It would be. See the post above a couple above. However, it does not take away your right to legally defend yourself.

And that was the purpose of my question. After reading the entire thread, I could see folks being in unreasonable fear of using deadly force, in a situation that demanded it, simply because they had a beer.
That you may be vilified in our community, that you may face trial, that an over zealous prosecutor may hold you up to scorn, none of these should be a determinant when faced with your(or others around you) imminent death or great bodily harm.

Dadtodabone... You have summed up nicely what I was getting at. I am not going to ignore a justified shoot to protect myself, my family, or others just because I have had a beer. That said, I try to avoid known places and situations where that might be necessary to include leaving my home after drinking more than two beers and even that is not the norm.

Being half asleep. Taking cough medicine. Not wearing your glasses. All of these could be used if you shoot somebody and the prosecution wants to cast doubt on the reasonableness of the shooting. The castle doctrine gives the presumption of reasonable but it can be challenged.

I grew up in the Ozarks. Drunk skunks, racoons and cows are not uncommon in areas where white lightning production is an age old family business.

The reality is that if you are ever truly in a life or death scenario, you will not be thinking or worrying about this question before defending yourself. And if you were in a do or die situation, the potential legal battle is something you will gladly take on, as opposed to desperately hoping your loved ones are going to be ok, as you go towards the light.

You know how sometimes you hear/see/learn something new and it starts popping up everywhere, because now your head is set to notice it where you wouldn't before?

I sometimes put "Cops" on while I'm working. Not ten minutes ago I hear this:

Guy the cop stopped: "I didn't do nothin' wrong sir"
The cop: "You nearly wrecked, driving drunker than Cooter Brown"

I definitely know more ways to say it than "three sheets to the wind" now :)

ineptitude: the quality or state of being inept; especially : incompetence

There is NOTHING illegal, or inept, or incompetent in relation to NOT BEING intoxicated while carrying a concealed handgun.
Which is what is being discussed here.. NOT being intoxicated and carrying.
Not a single person has inferred or stated, being intoxicated and carrying is a good, legal or even OK idea.

But many have cited the LAW and common sense in that, it is both ok and legal to NOT BE intoxicated and carry a gun concealed.

Not sure why some here have an issue with NOT BEING intoxicated and carrying a weapon concealed,, but clearly, some do.

In my experience, people who are inept after one beer were that way before the beer. Present company excluded.
