Nope, even if you are wearing gear that would make people tend to think you are a cop like hat or t-shirt it generally takes some attempt at asserting police authority for you to get an impersonating charge. However there are items that can be illegal for some people to own. Fake or counterfeit ID's are one but badges are generally not.

am i the only one who thinks people get a little carried away with this stuff?as many times i have been pulled over i have always had my id and insurance out of my wallet before the officer could get out of his car.

I just find it funny people act like they just robbed a bank with the whole putting their hands out the window and such.i just tell the officer i have my gun, i know for a fact if he wants to secure it he will tell me how me wants to me to act.and last time i was pulled over the officer didnt even care i had my gun and didnt even look at my chl.

I wear mine on my neck strap with my CAC, TS cleared access badge, US Passport Card, cleared FPS ID, Argentina DNI & CUIL, Brazil Visa, CDL(TX), TWIC, and AZ, CT, PA, NH carry permits, and my company ID..... and partridge in a pear tree. Do you think I am opening myself up to the being on the "LIST"? One of those numbers from Associated Press had a 972 area code...

I wonder why I have a sore neck. :???:

CHL on top of DL.I tend to get pulled over more than most as I drive 150 miles a day to work.
with time on the road the odds are against me. By the time an officer gets to my door, all windows are down with both cards and insurance in left hand right hand on wheel keys on dash. Always get a thank you from the officer an never a ticket.

Anything that make their lives easier makes your life easier. I want them to know right off the bat that I'm not a threat... hands visible the instant they get out of their car (I keep my left elbow on the window frame and hand on the roof, and right hand resting on the window frame, both visible from behind my car). Most of the times I've been pulled over the officers thank me.

Not to get off topic, but I have a question about showing your CHL to a LEO. If you get stopped, but are NOT armed and no guns anywhere in vehicle, do you still need to show your CHL or just DL? I ask because I can't carry in company vehicle. Thanks in advance!

No, just the DL. You only have to show your CHL when you are armed (but there is no penalty for failure to do so.)

I was pulled over once unarmed, after handing him my DL and insurance, I pulled my CHL out and said, "I thought maybe you would like to know I have a CHL -- but I am not armed." He said thanks and handed it back.

I carry my CHL/DL in my shirt pocket. I carry my throw down wallet in my back pocket. I keep some ones in it and some old business cards. That way, if I'm ever robbed, I will give up my throw down first, and hopefully keep my real license. I also have my throw down right next to my Glock so I have the option of pulling which ever one seems best at the time.

Wallet, right with my DL. If I'm stopped in traffic, I pull both out, rest my left elbow on the window frame, holding my IDs fanned out so the officer can see I've got a DL and CHL. As far as that putting the other hand out the window business goes, I feel like that's a guesture of subjugation, and I won't do it.

CHL & DL are in same holder in wallet. I think i can safely articulate to a LEO that I am a CHL holder and Carrying a loaded weapon for self defense.

I keep mine rolled up and inserted into my gun's barrel. I don't see any problem with that!
