Not concealed enough?

These cargoes from Duluth Trading Company are pretty comfortable and have very deep pockets. However, the "mouth" of the pocket is really wide. The one thing that I don't like about the cargoes though is there is some elastic thing in the waistline that makes using a holster on them (even with a stiff belt) less secure. Anyways, I decided I would see how it works using my S&W airweight I have on loan for pocket carry. The results are not great. Its REALLY comfortable, but if my shirt doesn't cover up the pocket enough I think this isn't going to count as concealed. What do you think?

Add some velcro to the pocket top

I don't think it is covered enough persoanlly. I can tell it is the grip and trigger guard. Even someone who may not be real familiar with firearms could possibly tell is you move and the pocket opens up any more once the fabric relaxes after washing.

And RPBrown's idea is a good one.

Try the Duluth jeans. They are rugged and have deep pockets. My Sig fits in the pocket just fine. For you, try a different pocket. The cargos have several places to hide a gun. Great pants!

I have the same issues with a couple of pairs of shorts. My wife sewed a small strip of velcro in the center of the opening and it works great. No hassel to get into like a button would be and it closes enough to fully conceal most anything I put in there

Sounds good. I think I'll see what my wife can do. Its a lot easier to carry a revolver in the pocket when I'm on baby duty than anything in the waistband, especially the Glock 19.

Its true, but possibly standing in line at the grocery store, or in line at the buffet... I know that even though I've had a CHL for almost 3 years now I'm still scanning waistlines for bulges. For the most part my shirt (which happens to be one that came in a "Tall" size so its extra long) covers it, but some shorter shirts I have might not as well.
There is only one guy I think I've ever know with a reasonable certainty is carrying and he's the one guy at church you NEVER see without his fanny pack...

a small spot of velcro ought to fix that real quick, if your wife can't do it, maybe she has a friend who can? don't use the sticky stuff 1) it won't hold for more than one washing and 2) when someone goes over it with their sewing machine, it will mess up their needle really bad.

Most people are so unaware of their surroundings that you could open carry and they wouldn't notice. If there was one person who did notice, he would probably think you were a cop.

How about standing in a line waiting for something? Grocery store or department store or any other line can get a little close. I don't think it is concealed enough.

People glance downward all the time in line. If something is partially exposed in a pocket of the person in front of you it would be easy to recognize the item, especially if it looks like the grip of a shiny chrome revolver.
