Embassy Suites by Hilton 30.06ing.

#1

Post by Bugler »

I was reading on Texas3006.com that Embassy Suites by Hilton is posting 3006 signs. So my question is, as a temporary residence, how can you not carry? The poster said, according to the employees, it's a policy of Hilton. Anyone else experience this?

Ive been to other Hilton Brandt (Hampton Inn) hotels in Texas, and they were probably marked 30.06.

As a temporary residence, I would think you can carry through to your room, then drop your weapon off, if you have to come and go, until check out time, and then you can carry out.
but I do not know if this is legal, or just what I would do.

I have stayed at numerous Hilton properties in Texas and never ran across a posting, so think it is an individual hotel thing.

According to the 30.06 forum the Embassy Suites in Corpus Christi has a legal 30.06 sign posted. This is an interesting question, one that I feel will not have a defnitive answer?

Let's all, send a note to Hilton Corporate, for a ruling. If they got queries from a bunch of us, it may impact their decision more than just one person asking.........

Hilton Americas in downtown Houston is posted.

There's a lot more info on Texas3006.com, if you search for "Hilton".

I was at both Embassy Suite hotels in Austin last month. They are both posted 30.06.

I will now be staying at the Marriott in Austin when I go there.

If they give 30.06 notice, you can't legally carry under the authority of your CHL. I'm pretty sure that makes your situation similar to somebody without a license who rents an apartment. You could carry it legally in your room, but the common areas are off limits for carrying a handgun. How do you get it into your room? There's plenty of case law saying locked luggage is not considered on or about your person. A better solution is to spend the night somewhere else where you don't have to tapdance around the law.

I've seen a "hidden" (ie not in plain sight and white lettering on clear glass) 30.06 at a few Hilton hotels, name the one in downtown Houston that connects to the George R. Brown convention center, didn't notice the signage until my final day there. In my renewal class a few weeks ago Crossfire mentioned that most Hilton's post 30.06 (unless I am mistaken). :tiphat:

Thanks for the extra info on the Hiltons, but do you leave your piece in the car or carry it in, in your luggage? If you carry it in your luggage, does it have to stay in the room until you leave with your luggage?

I'll just try not to stay there. I guess I'll have to ask if they are 3006 posted when I make the reservations.
