You must be out in the rural areas? I have been through 4 in my 5 years in education. Countless as practice scenarios.
Nope. Major suburban district in North Texas.

WOW! Lucky you. All but one was a false alarm in my case.

Edit: You guys do drills though?

Fire drill: at least once. A real fire broke out twice this year.

Tornado drill: had a warning earlier this year. Everything was fine.

Lockdown: We have the procedures E-mailed to us, and we're expected to do it. I had spoke to my principal today, and he said we'll do one when we return. He said if we didn't do one to remind him to do one. One of the assistant principals is in charge of drills. I'm pushing for a lockdown drill. But, I'm also want to push something more realistic. It's one thing to drill, but it's another thing when we hear shots fired or see a firearm. Students and staff WILL panic, and that's what I'm worried about. No one really panics in a fire or tornado drill.

So you have never done a practice drill? Is this a HS?
Do you have your own isd police?

This is a high school. We have two full-time police officers on campus, and we have roaming security during the nights (not police, like Dallas ISD police).

Sounds like you have the same set up as me. Two officers are always in my HS during school hours from our ISD police force.
