Do you mean at all or just in the establishment you were in?
If only the 51% and Unlicensed Possession signs are posted I'm having trouble understanding what is incorrect about them both being posted.
there is NO Blue 51% SIGN at all.
the 2 signs have different meanings, 51% means no concealed(or other types of carry) weapons by anyone. the blue sign means unlicensed persons cannot carry but licensed people can. so to have both signs up you send a confusing message and one that violates the alcoholic beverage code
There is no such thing as a "blue" 51% sign.
The lettering may be blue, but the 51% is red (but if posted in a window, may be faded out), and that sign is referred to on the liquor license as "Sign=RED"
There are only two signs -- The RED 51% sign, and the blue "unlicensed possession" sign.
Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target." Never Forget.

The selection of which sign to post is an either/or condition.
Exactly. The liquor license will specify either Sign=Blue or Sign=Red and the establishment is required to post the corresponding sign. They do not get to choose which sign(s) they post.
The location in the first post is a blue sign location. CHL holders are allowed to carry in blue sign locations. By posting the red (51%) signs they create confusion and send the message that concealed carry is not allowed. If they want to prohibit concealed carry they need to post a 30.06 sign.
If it's a 51% bar that posts a 51% sign (red sign) then the unlicensed warning sign (blue sign) is redundant, but I think it's still literally true. Thats the penalty for unlicensed carry

Well, color me . I have not seen a real red one yet. I was in a place where there should have been one, but didn't carry because I figured there would be one and then didn't even look for it. I would have lost money betting that I had seen a picture of one around here somewhere.

And that's where I was having a problem. I knew they applied to different groups of people, but thought there was also a blue 51% sign to make it clear instead of someone having to guess. I've only been to one bar that was probably really a 51% location in the last 25-30 years and that was earlier this year.

"Red" 51% signs (which are the only red/51% ones that exist), are for bars -- places that receive 51% or more from the sale of alcohol for on-premises consumption. "Blue" unlicensed possession signs are for place that sell alcohol in any form or percentage that don't meet the requirement for the red sign. (In other word, less than 51% on-premesis consumption). The blue sign applies to restaurants, grocery stores, liquor stores, big-box stores, convenience stores, etc.
Hope it's clear now...

OK, so that everyone knows the difference, here are what the two signs look like
This one is OK to pass
This one is NOT OK to pass
And, as a note, the blue sign does NOT have to be blue. I have seen businesses make their own version. Just has to meet the guidelines of wording and size by TABC. The 51% DOES have to be in red and 5 inches high on the sign.

HEB and most Stripes stores come to mind. Most of them have the lettering of the "blue" sign simply printed on the glass at the entrance.

Actually, it is illegal for an unlicensed person to be carrying anyway. The blue sign is just a notification that in that establishment the penalty is a felony rather than the usual misdemeanor.
