Kidding aside, I would like some input as to the legitimacy of 30.06 at Ford Park. I dont see how an occasional Pro Rodeo could justify a permanent 30.06.
30.06 is not valid unless it is a meeting of a government entity. The rodeo doesn't have to have a sign at all as it is already off limits per statutes.

Wait a minute, rodeos are off limits per statutes? How so? Or is there another factor I'm missing?

PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Assoc.) If they are getting paid for their sport, then it's a professional sporting event.

Anyone know whether the Fort Worth Stockyards Rodeo would fall in the same category?
To me it's more "entertainment" or "cowboy theater" than it is a "professional sporting event".
Thinking about taking some Yankee visitors over the holidays. Hoping to clarify whether carry is prohibited by statute.

AFAIK, the building IS still posted 30.06, but the facility is owned by the City of FW. So, as I understand it the 30.06 on the building is not valid, but the event category may be "off limits" regardless of the invalid 30.06.

Also, the gun outline is clearly a 1911-style semi-auto, so I'm assuming revolvers are OK.

Pre stated, Im not trying to be a smartelec...but I’ve been wondering… if “Professional Sporting Events” are off limits…. What is the statutory or legal definition of a Professional Sporting Event?

Is there a list of Pro Sporting Events in the TPC or ADMIN code? Or a definition of "sporting event" in the same?

There are many things people group together and get paid to do I would not consider a sport.. A Rodeo is one of them.. :smilelol5: "Pro Wrestling" (UNITED PRO WRESTLING ASSOCIATION) is another.. Those are both physical, entertainment events, but not SPORTS...

And I can see others saying driving a car in circles, or curvy streets is not a sport. Or shooting a gun.. many will say that is not a sport.
Is Pro Poker a sporting event (The International Poker Players Association )? How about Chess?.. IS Chess a sporting event (Professional Chess Association )?

Why a special exception for sporting events at all?

As we have been told... this and the other restrictions were added to get enough support to pass the law we do have.

Reality is, law breakers do not care about signs, and are not stopped by lawful restrictions.

Because we don't have enough pro gun legislators in Texas to remove the restriction on the good guys. Like bronco said, the bad guys don't follow the law, so it's just there to hassle the good guys.

So, is wrasslin' a sportin' event or entertainment? If it's a sport, why did the World Wrestling Federation change its name to 'World Wrestling Entertainment'?

Perhaps the 30.60 typo is intentional. The management gets to appear concerned for the public's safety by seeming to restrict (otherwise legal, by the way) concealed handgun carry, and we get to ignore the sign. Best of both worlds.

When are these hoplophobics going to get the idea that we CHL holders are the Good Guys?! We'll obey these signs (when properly posted) while the Bad Guys will ignore them and carry weapons onto the premises anyway. Don't they understand that the most effective response to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun? Doesn't matter whether the good guy has a badge, just as long as he's a good guy.

So many morons, so little time....

Double check the thread title and the picture of the sign and the handbook.
