The greatest enemy of gun rights is the negative view of guns that an impressionable society is constantly exposed to. This credit union is just furthering that negative view.
The greatest enemy of my gun rights is a sign that prohibits me from legal carry, much like the one that the credit union removed. Guns shows are supposed to be all about gun rights, but they refuse my right to protect myself when I'm there. I'd rather go to a coop grocery on South Congress Avenue that has a sign that says, "Melt guns to make bicycles!" as long as they don't refuse my right to legally carry a weapon to protect myself and my family in their establishment.

I've tested the waters a couple of times, the last being in Lewisville. You pay your money and go in. I wasn't lugging anything around to sell so why stop by the voluntary search and seizure table. It's unenforceable and the risk of taking the ride was minimal.

:iagree: Exactly.

Except for my bank. [One of the "too big to fail" banks]
They put up gunbuster signs last year. I had a nice chat with the branch manager. I had a nice chat with the regional manager. I didn't complaint about the non-compliance of the sign, I wanted to know where their armed guards were (none) to protect me from the BG's that saw that sign and smiled. Now, I only use the drive through. They've lost all my non savings-and-checking business, but they're the best choice for the stuff I use them for and I'm content to use the drive through and wave at my friend through the glass who understands why I don't come in there any more. On the rare (only once since) times I need to go inside for something that can't easily done through the window, I carry past the sign since it's not compliant. No worries.

Hi Everyone,

Just found this site and have been learning a lot on the real world.

I'm trying to understand what makes these signs not valid? Do they need something on them to make them valid? Or is it required to be a properly displayed 30.06 sign?

Thank you for your help.

The language and physical characteristics required in 30.06 are pretty clear. Signs not meeting the 30.06 criteria may be considered non-compliant. There are several reports (Grapevine Mills mall, for example) of local police that say they will prosecute those carrying past a non-compliant (close but not exactly) sign.... The slogan in this forum is "You may beat the rap, but not the ride".
