What would you do scenario
Ok, as per normal, I try to think about some possible realistic scenarios that I could be involved in, and try to think about what I would do. I thought of one, and wanted to see what everyone else would do if in the same situation. In this scenario, you are armed with whatever you carry.
It's 9 pm on a Friday night and you had to run to the local convenience store/gas station. You go inside after pumping your gas, say to buy a drink or something. As you are walking up you notice a police car in the parking lot. You go inside and get your drink or whatever and make your way to the counter. The police officer is in front of you and begins to check out and pay for his purchases.
You are taking a moment to analyze the fact that this officer doesn't really seem to be taking in his surroundings very well, seems very complacent. While doing this, you too fail to notice the thug walking thru the door. The moment you spot him, you notice that he has pulled out a handgun and his eyes are locked dead onto the officer who has his back to him. The guy begins to raise his handgun towards the officer...
What do you do?
I'll check in later with what my thoughts are on this. I want to see what other people come up with.
Tell me what you would do, and then also what the outcome could be

If the guy is already raising his gun you're already at a tactical disadvantage.
I'd yell "GUN!" to give the cop a heads up, take cover, and draw my weapon. In that order.
Remember: If you're not shooting, you're moving. If you're not moving, you're communicating. If you're not communicating, you're dead.

I pay at the pump and I don't smoke or drink soda and 9PM is too late for coffee. I would miss the show.

Shoot the BG.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Only thing I would add is getting on the horn with 911 in the likely event that the BG gets the drop on the officer...

Hot cup of coffee to his face while I take cover. Or concealment since there no hard cover in many cstores.what happens next depends on what happens next.
Even if you're unarmed, I think you have to act in that situation. A criminal who plans to kill a cop in cold blood doesn't seem like the kind to leave witnesses alive who can I'd him.

For those who said they would "drop" him--why wouldn't the cop-seeing YOU with a gun, think you were an accomplice and "drop" you?

That's a possibility. That's why I would take cover behind the Budweiser SuperBowl display.JustMe wrote:For those who said they would "drop" him--why wouldn't the cop-seeing YOU with a gun, think you were an accomplice and "drop" you?
