Becoming a CHL Instructor

#1

Post by polisci »

I have recently applied and paid for the CHL Instructor training. My fingerprint appointment is Monday, Nov.28th. From this point, can anyone tell me when I would most likely attend training? Don't know if it helps the process along, but I do have my CHL. Thanks for any information you can offer.

It's my understanding that DPS schedules classes when there enough applications to hold a class. Your CHL is not a requirement for the class. Good luck.

Thank you for your response. I read somewhere that they hold only 4 classes per year, at a max. of 100 per class. Is this true?

Not sure about 4 per year anymore. I too have applied to become an instructor, and have gone through the entire process, except the DPS class.

As of about a month ago, I was told I would most likely be in an April 2012 course.

Well, I've gone through the entire process up to the point where I haven't been told anything yet.. So maybe by summertime then, or perhaps April, that would be awfully convenient for me. But I'm sure the DPS isn't worried about my convenience, right?

Not in the slightest. I think you can turn down a class date and get back in line if there's a serious conflict with your personal plans, but I don't know how many times you can do that before you don't get to go back in line.
