There should be enough voltage on the bell line to trigger a relay outlet to that runs a vibrating device attached to the bed frame.

deafCHL wrote:Its extremely difficult for a deaf student to follow a class of any size accurately. I had sign language interpreters in all my classes in college. The same goes for my fiancee, Misty. The thing is, Misty needs to take a class that will be easy for her to follow, such as the entire lecture being displayed on PowerPoint or perhaps printed on text of some sort, like a booklet. She and I would prefer to have interpreters, but I'm not quite sure who pays for the interpreter.
Some instructors will do private classes and you con bring your own interpreter if you want one.

However, if you read this forum for a few months and review the CHL-16 document, passing the test should be easy even if you didn't take the class. JMHO.

Actually, any home security company is required by law to install devices for deaf or blind, if a resident is deaf or blind. I just can't afford that just yet. Maybe in a couple months.

I do have an alarm clock that makes my lamp flash.

I don't want to put such a flasher on my phone, whether regular phone or "deaf" phone. Most of the time I don't want to answer it.

As for the doorbell, well... I figured if someone if someone put that much time and effort to find my house way out here in the boonies, they aren't just gonna ring the bell and leave if no one answers. They'll keep banging until someone answers. It ain't easy gettin' to my house.

My FIL has lost alot of his hearing (more than he wants to admit) when I was googling around for doorbells I found quite a few that had some that will flash lights and vibrate beds not just when the doorbell rings but when a door opens, they aren't cheap, maybe a dog would work better? ;-) Luckily we were able to find something at Home Depot that will get us through the next few years.
