A backside full of bird shot should encourage him to peep elsewhere. Wait, that would be frontier justice and frowned upon in our civilized society. Disregard that foolish comment.

This. I'm not going to let someone on do my wrong on my property, and just wait till the police get there. It's not in my personality. It's not what I was trained to do. A lot of folks dont think you should venture out when there is no immediate threat to you or your family for safety reasons.. and that is fine. I just see things differently.

Odds are heavily in my favor that 6 years of SWCC has me better trained and tactically sound than your average thug. Chances are equally in my favor that I am better armed. I know the terrain better. If I survived heavy fighting in Afghanistan, and relatively heavy fighting in the streets of Iraq only to be smoked by some creep snooping around my house in the middle of the night, I'll accept that as Gods' will. I'm insured, and have relatively good life insurance so my wife will be able to live comfy ;-)

As far as turning Brody, the German Shorthaired loose... well, he woudn't do a whole lot. My Ridgeback would have been a different story, but he has been waiting up in Heaven for me since October. I think it's time to get a Rocky the Ridgeback JR....

Karder- I acquired 60 oleoresin capsicum rounds for my paintball gun today from a buddy of mine who works for the Sheriff's Dept. I figured Rock Salt 12 Guage rounds would also be frowned upon :(

...at close range, that rock salt might do more than just burn!!!...

...If it were me doing the peeping, and you fired OC and hit me, you might as well have used buckshot...it'd trigger an asthma attack I might not survive...one of the many reasons I don't Peep or do anything else that might warrant me being covered with that stuff...

Everybody keeps refering to "him". Since no one has see the peeper, how do y'all know it's a "him". Looks/sounds like a little bit of sexist profiling goin' on here? Girls like to look too, don't they?

snatchel wrote: .....So my mission for the day: Infrared Game Cameras. Gonna by 4 of them... one for each side of my house, and 2 for my neighbor. He has 3 teenage daughters and said that they saw him last friday creeping by one of his daughters bedroom windows. I need reccomendations on GOOD, STURDY, CLEAR cameras guys.
I use a Bushnell Bone Collector (Model # 119445) to cover my driveway. Runs on AA's, SD Card, 45' IR distance / night time. Clear pics day or night.
Also will shoot video, can set frame/shot speed etc. Mounted high in tree aimed at cars in drive, but also catches partial sidewalk and street view.
The longest I've let it run is 2 1/2 weeks. That's a lot of pics to look through! Still had battery power left.
Maybe this will help until you can install a DVR/camera system. Good luck.

I've seen and replaced many different types of cameras and DVRs. DIY kits are fine and work, sometimes, but i think when it's time for a critical picture, you'll be left disappointed. Eureka quoted some specs and linked to a good camera. You want to look for True Day/Night capabilities.

I feel confident that you have the qualifications to exit your house and pursue...I would be yelling "Call 911!" on my way out...

And sorry about your Ridgeback.

Oldgrino, you're alright by me. ;-)

OT, we had the two potted plants on our stoop stolen twice (the second set weighed over 100 lbs per pot) so I put up one of these before buying new pots and plants. Takes very clear color photos during the day and black and whites at night.

Exactly!

A newspaper columnist (hard to type that without making "communist" out of it) for the Albany New York Times Union, many years ago, by the name of Barney Fowler, was very conservative in his views, also somewhat of a rarity amongst newspaper people anymore, and used to do regular pieces on HIS plan for: if not reducing crime, at least reducing the impact and expense.

Barney (I got to call him by his first name because he was my father in law's cousin) championed criminals being required to register their jobs, just like everyone else, and having to carry all of the same insurances, and pay into SSI, and so on, just like any other small business.

AND, it was his idea that each and every criminal should be made to sign a form that they were aware of the occupational hazards, including injury and possibly death, and that anyone who injured or killed them would not be held responsible because it was, after all, the criminal's chosen profession that resulted in the injury.

I can't really imagine such a law making it through most any legislature, but one can dream.

Sorry about your ridgeback. It is hard to lose a beloved dog. As for shooting his eyes out--a bit messy for my tastes. Now a few air gun shots to the posterior would not go amiss. But I have to agree that it is hard to know if it is a peeping tom or a rapists waiting for an opportunity--so that is a problem and it needs to be dealt with.

I solved the problem of peeping toms years ago...I just wear my skivvies or less when at home (mental image - Chris Farley in the SNL Chippendale's skit with Patrick Swaze) ...I've only found two dead toms outside my window so far...most just shreak and run off, screaming something like "my eyes, my eyes!" :biggrinjester:
