speedsix wrote:...companies have often quoted police as saying not to resist and to comply with the BG's demands...that was true in most cases back in the 70s, but today, it's more likely that they'll shoot/rape/etc. anyways...and LEOS know it...giving that advice today would be in bad faith...
But unfortunately it is still given by many. :banghead:

It would be interesting to compare the data between pharmacies and manufacturing with regard to potentially lethal situations for employees. OSHA regulates the heck out of what policies companies can and cannot set regarding workplace dangers in everything from Wal-Mart stores to heavy machine manufacturing like Caterpillar. Please note: I'm not advocating further government intervention into businesses.

To me, a modern pharmacy or convenience store is every bit as potentially lethal to its employees as a steel mill. I'm simply wondering out loud if it isn't another situations like highway deaths versus deaths with guns where the latter is hyped by the media.

The only time I ever worked for a company that sold products to customers (coffee) as opposed to dealing with children (teacher) the company had a policy of not resisting. However I myself had a policy of letting them take whatever products the bad guys wanted but if they went after me I was going to bash them in the head with a glass blender. I was under 21 and not permitted to have a CHL at that time, but I was working in a tiny kiosk in the middle of a parking lot--not safe at all. I was robbed a few times and after the last time I quit because I was having panic attacks thinking about going to work and after being robbed for I think it was the third time my fiance (now my husband) said that is enough to go back to preschool teaching even though it paid less.
