Oh, OK, I agree with that philosophy. The money they spent on security cameras should get a nice clear and sharp image of the pieces of garbage that end up killing an employee or customer so maybe they can identify them easier and maybe apprehend them faster.

Compliance is safer than confrontation? What a joke. Tell that to Jennifer Hawke-Petit, oh, you can't, because she and her 2 daughters are DEAD. If you need a rehash of the story, here it is.

'On July 23, 2007, prosecutors say, Komisarjevsky and Hayes broke into the Petits' Cheshire home, beat Dr. Petit unconscious and forced Jennifer Hawke-Petit to go to a local bank and withdraw thousands of dollars at gunpoint. The same night, prosecutors charge, Hayes raped and strangled Hawke-Petit before the two men bound Hayley (17) and Michaela (11) to their beds and lit the house on fire, leaving the girls to die of smoke inhalation.'

Or maybe we can ask some of the Walgreens employees about the store in Omaha that was robbed in April 2010 and a customer used his own gun to stop both suspects. Since this was the THIRD TIME THE STORE HAD BEEN ROBBED IN 5 MONTHS, I have to figure Walgreens must have implemented their "upgrades to security technology". How did that work out? Not so good, since a customer was required to do something about it.

I find it funny that Walgreens is touting their security technology upgrades. Its nice to know that once the cops have finished taping body outlines and cleaning up blood and gore that the ""upgrades to security technology" MIGHT help them with solving the case. What is Walgreen's doing to PREVENT the crime from happening to begin with? NOTHING, except to tell every would be robber on the planet that Walgreen's employees will most likely not be armed, at least they had better not be if they want to keep their job, so feel free to come in and knock over one of our stores AND help yourself to a host of pharmaceutical drugs.

Tell your corporate lawyers to quit drinking the blue kool aid and pull their heads out of their butts.

This issue, as your corporate office knows, has been picked up by the NRA and other 2A/firearm friendly websites. I know of no other demographic that is more apt to vote with their pocket book than firearm owners.

I, for one, will never spend another dime at any of your establishments and I'll be sure and let CVS know where to send the "Thank You" card for the new business.

My family and I recently moved from Washington state to Texas and needed a pharmacy for my wife's multiple monthly prescriptions. We have used both Walgreens and Rite-Aid in the past and now our choices are you and CVS. I would simply like to thank you for providing me the opportunity to easily make my decision by your firing of Mr. Jeremy Hoven for using his 2nd Amendment right to protect himself and the individuals around him when the Walgreens he was working at was held up.
I have read the auto responses provided to other individuals who have voiced their displeasure and (because of your reaction) have decided to take their business elsewhere. I understand our monthly business is only a few hundred dollars but, given the number of people on the pro-2nd amendment message boards and that the NRA has taken an interest in this incident, and has weighed in on this matter, I would surmise you have lost many loyal and potential customers. The fact that your corporation has spent the time and money to ensure a state of the art video surveillance system to identify the potential murderer post incident would not do much to relieve the grief of the potential victims families. I fully understand it is a legal and liability issue but to fire him from his livelihood for protecting his life is beyond what could be considered as a reasonable.

CVS will now be receiving our patronage for all our pharmaceutical needs. And, from what i have read posted by those who frequent the multiple message boards where I have seen this story reported, they too have voiced their displeasure and desire to now utilize a Walgreens competitor.

Has anyone asked CVS what their policy is? I suspect if this had happened in a CVS, we'd be reading essentially the same story. Most of the big chain stores have the same policy that if you resist a robbery, you'll get fired. I've seen it in the news before, especially with pizza drivers.

Thats my point I have worked in retail in the past and it was the same everywhere I went. I've heard this story retold with many other stores and it all seem to have to same outcome.
