actually it could be his weapon, I have seen where some places are putting a RFID inside the stocks and forget to burn them when the weapon is purchased

My TCP has never set one of these off. It doesn't make any sense that it is the pistol.
Also, you do not have to stop if one of those detectors goes off. You have no legal obligation to do so.

Maybe you had a knee replacement recently and they forgot to deactivate the tag?sookandy wrote:All I had was a pair o sneakers, shorts and a tshirt. Other times it's a pair of hiking boots, jeans and a tshirt. And no it's not the same shirt.

I had one go off in Utah once and kept walking (while looking for prusuit).
Would be bad having one of thewse go off while concealed carying :-)

Re: Theft prevention devices outing me?
I was having a problem with tripping the alarms on occasion - sometimes on the way in, sometimes on the way out, not consistent.
It turned out to be a theft-prevention strip stuffed down in the bottom of my cellphone case.
I still think it was a prank.

The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

It's because you were going commando. Try wearing underwear next time.sookandy wrote:All I had was a pair o sneakers, shorts and a tshirt. Other times it's a pair of hiking boots, jeans and a tshirt. And no it's not the same shirt.
Gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to drive.

could be a tag on the holster, its also very common for them to get left in walletsRiverCity.45 wrote:Concealed carry guns can't set off those theft detection alarms. They aren't metal detectors. They scan for radio-frequency ID tags that haven't been deactivated, so it's not your gun.

Re: Theft prevention devices outing me?
Ok I am an idiot. So I swap out the 1911 and put the TCP in the pocket on hot days and I always wear a hat. The stupid tag was in the hat. It is the one I wear when I am bumming around in shorts and a T. Going to keep the tag and mess with some friends.

Mystery solved! Congratulations.

Re: Theft prevention devices outing me?
A number of years ago, before the "inventory control tags" were prevalent, we were shopping in a store when I found a sheet of adhesive-backed things on a table. I didn't know what they were, and was tempted to put one in my pocket to take apart and examine later. Eventually I asked the clerk what it was, and she explained what they were. I couldn't help but think how ironic it would have been if I'd been nabbed for stealing an anti-theft device!

Range Rule: "The front gate lock is not an acceptable target."
