I am going with my wife to SHRP to see OVO (cirque du soleil event) on Friday night.
I believe I know the answer, but wanted other viewpoints.
1 - SHRP is off limits during races
2 - As I will be going to a concert there, and not to the race, and the ticket "allows" me to enter the race track portion, I am probably off limits to carry, but as I have never been to a concert there and havent been to the race track in about 5 years, I just dont know if there are different entrances for the concert or racetrack.
If I can't get a pretty definitive answer here, I will not carry to the concert, but will always try to find a way to carry (legally) whenever possible.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Re: Sam Houston Race Park - Concert
This is the mistake I see. Race tracks are defined as off limits, just as schools are. It is because of their characteristic as a race track, and is regardless of whetehr or not a race is going on, just as a school does not have to be in session with classes to be off limits.Teamless wrote:1 - SHRP is off limits during races
Do not carry there.

I drive past SHRP all the time - the Ovo tents are in the parking lot, NOT the racetrack itself. Not sure what the exact law is regarding carrying within the "parking lot" vs the "racetrack" itself, so I'm NOT suggesting anyone do so, but wonder if the law regarding racetracks still applies to the "going to Ovo" scenario since it's all held in the parking lot?

I went to see ovo last Sunday w the family. Saw no 30.06 signs, and never went near the racetrack* ** premises* **. I'd like to think that you can carry on the* grounds* of the facility, if you're not entering the premises- same idea as for college campuses.
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

IANAL:
"Premise" is the key and the parking lot is excluded from this..46.50.. The show is in a tent in the parking lot....
Concealed means concealed....
Good luck.
