When you consider 300 million people in the USA and how few murders of strangers are committed by people without a prior criminal record, civilian gun ownership is very safe. Maybe the answer is to control convicted criminals instead of controlling guns or baseball bats.

Griffen wrote:Since this lady lost her husband in a shooting incident, I'm surprised she's not more of an advocate for carrying defensively. I don't understand why she wants to create more gun-free zones to allow an incident like that to happen to other innocent victims. I just don't understand the logic behind her motivation. I have to believe theres another alternate agenda item behind her thinking.

Because people like Sarah Brady aren't against guns so much as they are against people defending themselves. Guns are the only practical means of self-defense and that is what they want to make illegal, like it is in places such as the UK. Don't make the mistake of believing that if the anti-gun crowd gets its way and prevents you from legally owning a gun, and you manage to defend yourself in some other way, be it a kitchen knife or a baseball bat, that they won't be clamoring for you to be prosecuted. The media will call you the "kitchen vigilante" and howl for your prosecution.

I still remember the case of the "subway vigilante" --a guy set upon in a subway car by five young thugs with sharpened screw drivers as weapons. Hey, they were just "kids." They just had "screw drivers." They just wanted money. The liberals and their media allies were full of excuses for the thugs. They felt sorry for the thugs, not their victims. There is a lot of truth to the notion that liberals believe a woman raped and murdered is morally superior to the woman who defends herself by shooting the attempted rapist.

Pennsylvania Rep. Robert Brady, a Democrat from Philadelphia, told CNN that he also plans to take legislative action. He will introduce a bill that would make it a crime for anyone to use language or symbols that could be seen as threatening or violent against a federal official, including a member of Congress.
I guess we need to stop paying them. That eagle on the back of the dollar is packing arrows and looks downright unhappy. That, combined with the infinished pyramid - basically a fancy yet unoccupied grave - could be interpreted as a threat. Better to err on the side of caution.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

ABC news seemed to be pointing at high capacity magazines. I bet this will be the "target" for lawmakers.

yes exactly

She states they are not for hunting, but only for killing and maiming people ... no one needs hi capacity magazines for hunting.

Guess her home hasn't been invaded by 5 home invaders while her hand shakes from adrenaline and she tries to fire while bobbing and weaving and putting distance between her and them and seeking cover.... or else, she uses secret magic 1-shot-stops-them bullets which can't miss as they are also those "smart bullets ...must be computer guidance system in each

Her contention : Those can fire hundreds of bullets per minute, that's not needed for hunting ...

ok, I suggest she buy a home protection gun with a timer ... one bullet per minute ... to use against 5 armed home invaders ...

If ALL guns only shot 1 per minute ...

Each minute, the homeowner would get shot 5 times, and after 5 minutes, the homeowner would have 1 bullet in each invader, homeowner 25 entry holes.

Math isn't my strong suit ... but those numbers aren't favorable to the law abiding homeowner.

Who hunts with a Glock 9mm anyway?

I want an Americans With Disabilities exemption for disabled persons and elderly unable to reload 2-round-magazines quickly to fight 5 home invaders, like the Federal laws used to provide exemptions for switchblades for 1-handed people .... :evil2:

I guess someone has to be the Devil's Advocate.

I don't need an extended magazine for my SA Compact CW or my Kimber Target II or my Browning HiPower...or my Sig P230 SL. Lord knows, my S&W wheel gun CC's only hold 5 and 6 rounds respectively.

What purpose do high capacity magazines really serve? Who has survived a shoot-out or home invasion due to their extended magazine in real life? Just askin'...

While we're at it, the speed limit on most highways is 70mph. What purpose does anything over 70 serve? We should 'govern' the vehicles to go no faster than 70mph.

I forsee gun sales increasing if I "need" to carry 3 guns with 10 rounds each instead of only one gun with 30 "rlol"

No one home invaded me yet, so I can't answer from personal experience, but I have 8 rounds on my him, 21 next to my pillow and 2 30 rounders is where I'm using those to get to

It isn't so easy to reload with only 1 hand that's arthritic when you are asleep.

How many people survived a home invasion and didn't even need a gun? ... perhaps no one should have one in their home ...

Second, we're in deep trouble if "need" forms the basis for owning anything.

They serve a huge purpose when I'm at the range ... as I said. reloading mags isn't so easy for 1-handers ... even for 2-handers, it's convenience

It's 66 rounds in the car in case a biker group gets drunk and mad ant me .... it's there if I want it

Out of the hundreds of guns I've owned over about 42 years, I only shot maybe 20 of them ... I didn't need them, nor that ice cream I'm eating ...

Their purpose is to hold more ammunition than low capacity magazines.
