SOB - Is that a "Small of Back" carry style? :-)

Would it be proper to contact DPS regarding the OP CHL instructor's blatantly wrong
interpretation of the church carry rules?

Does DPS give a wakeup call to the CHL instructor regarding spreading
disinformation?

Now that one of you mentioned it, the instructor did comment that the one place that a person should be able to feel safe without being armed is in church -- so I suspect you are right in the comment that the instructor is letting personal feelings cloud a clearly worded statute.
She's right--we should be able to feel safe in church without being armed, same as at home or work or at a restaurant. Unfortunately, with the state of our society today you aren't safe from crime anywhere. That's why I carry anywhere I legally can.

We should be able to feel safe in church, but there's sometimes someone who wants to take advantage of that feeling of security...

If you aren't supposed to carry at Church then why do Crossbreeds had a cross on the clips? But seriously, I went Mass yesterday with my LCP stowed in my pants pocket, I would hate to break the laws of the land. :evil2:

:iagree:
ditto...I carried on the platform yesterday to give announcements from the pulpit. I was carrying my XD and 25 rounds of .40, and my pastor knows about it and is anxious to take his first CHL class and do the same. 30.06 signs are not welcome at my church, but everyone else is. ;-)

I do not carry at church because I feel an assualt is eminate, I carry at church because it is legal to do so just as any other legal place, and would be able to defend myself and fellow worshipers if the need did arise.

Relax and take a deep breath . . . I've had three different CHL instructors, and have found something I disagree with in the teachings of all three, either from interaction with the police or interpretation of plainly-written law. :rules:

So what.

Arguing with a "professional" instructor is like wrestling with a pig - all you get is dirty and the pig likes it . . . you won't convince him but if anything, it will make the class run longer than the already annoying statutory requirement. I'm there simply to "get my ticket punched" and unless the instructor is a total loser (none of mine actually fit that category!) paying attention to what he says will make passing the written test a breeze.

In the case cited by the original post, the instructor was simply wrong. Fine. You know the real situation: licensed carry is OK in church unless given notice pursuant to the law - end of story.
Original CHL: 2000: 56 day turnaround
1st renewal, 2004: 34 days
2nd renewal, 2008: 81 days
3rd renewal, 2013: 12 days

I re-read your post(s) to confirm that the renewal class instructor was a female. And have a pretty good idea who it is. If so, it ain't the first time she's let personal "feelings" get in the way of knowing when and where it's legal to carry - or when it's time to pull the trigger.

I think that's the best answer. Contact DPS and explain the situation. Let them take whatever corrective action they deem appropriate.

Thank you friend, I resemble that remark.
Me too.
