All we need is a venue. It helps to have a local club or group to promote it, but we can probably fill all but very large venues with people from the TexasCHLforum.

Hmm...wouldn't it be delicious if I could get a room at UTD for the seminar. I'll poke around and see if that's possible. UTD does seminars all the time.

It's probably better to have it somewhere that doesn't force attendees to choose between surrendering a fundamental constitutional right and breaking the law.

Let me know when you have time do it. I've got access to a room, and a shop/range to promote it.

Marshall would be an excellent "central location" for the area. I will assist in any way I can.

It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!

I strongly second this objection. I'm not interested in attending a seminar if it's held in a place where I have to disarm to be legal.

Christ said it best, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick." If I can give a seminar in a venue that may reach people who do not share our support of the Second Amendment, then I view that as an opportunity. Sure, I'd rather be able to keep my 1911 on my side, but I view this as the cost of Second Amendment evangelism. Plus, this won't happen very often, if at all. If you feel that strongly, then attend another seminar in a different venue. The chance of using another no-guns venue is pretty slim.

I don't mind going to a "disarming" location to hear this information.
The important thing is everyone has the chance to get together and get this information as well as have new comers hear it too..
The challenge I would have is driving across Texas..

How big of a space do you need to hold this seminar?

I know of a place but I would need to know how many might come.. to ask about the building.. it would be in Irving Texas area..
Thanks

That would depend on how large an audience we can/will draw. I've done seminars as small as 30 people and as large as about 150. When we get a venue, I'll set up an online registration for it so we can set a limit. We use it for several events now, including our monthly IDPA matches. There won't be a fee for the seminar, but registration will be required so we don't exceed building capacity.

Since baldeagle was talking about UT Dallas, my guess is we could get a pretty large classroom. Let us know what's available.

Thanks,
Chas.

For those of us who may not be able to make it, due to location, is there any chance of the seminar being recorded, and possibly shared online?

Charles,

I apologize of this was covered in the thread previously...

Before I do it, I figured I would check with you. I can probably muster up quite a few folks for a class in or around San Antonio. Can I go ahead and poll folks for interest and scout a location or two?

You bet. San Antonio is certainly on the list for seminars. The plan is to do them in several cities around the state and I'm hoping to give a list of prospective venues soon so we can judge interest.
