Round Rock,
I would hope yours is getting ready to be turned up since you "dropped" it off instead of mailing it in....
Thanks, I should be getting it by Wed. or Thurs. and carrying by Friday...
Now to find the right holster, most of the time I will be carrying my NAA Mini-Mag in a pocket holster.....
Be safe,
Jim

I sent DPS another email today;
Hello,
I enquired about my CHL status over a week ago and was told it was taking about 3 to 4 weeks longer to issue. I dropped mine off at your office (corner of Denson and Airport) on Monday April 11th. I just recently talked to a person who mailed his in on that same Monday. Even with about 2 days more for the mail his permit has already been approved. If there is an issue with mine please let me know so I can get it resolved quickly. When I dropped it off the lady behind the counter looked it over and even took the finger print cards to somebody to verify they we alright. The 60 days have come and gone and my understanding of the law is unless there is an issue with the application you must issue within the 60 days. Thanks for your help.
Hopefully this will get them off their butts and issue mine. Heck I'll even go pick it up!

Your license has already been selected for issuance and it was mailed to you on 6/15/05. Please allow it 7-10 days to be delivered, not including Sundays and Holidays. Thank you for your continued patience.
7 to 10 days are they crazy?
It should be tomorrow or Friday(just in time for my B-day)!!!!!!!

They know the law quite well. The division that handles processing the CHL is also having to do a lot of the background work for the Private Security Board, which is now a division of the DPS.
This includes Guards (armed and non-armed) Private Investigators, Company Owners, Managers, Armored Car Guards, Burglar Alarm sales, installation and monitoring people, Guard Dog handlers and trainers, Armed Couriers, etc.
It is a huge task. By calling or emailing, you get them to look specifically for your file. Once they see everything is good to go, then they put it right out rather than it sitting at the bottom of the pile.
They do a great job considering the overwhelming tasks they have.

Re: Status
I called them yesterday, it has been two months after all, and was told that it was issued and going in the mail. I told them I had lost my PIN, which I did, and all I really wanted was to be able to check on line, and she checked the status instead. I got the feeling, from the way she said it, that the only reason it was going out "today" was in response to my call.RoundRock_Gun_Fan wrote:It looks like my email worked; :D

That means they haven't looked at it yet, but since you called you get bumped to the top of the line and I will process it now.ole-cuss wrote:i e mailed the dps on my chl as it has been 60 days and here was her reply. If everything is correct on your license I will mail it today. whatever that means.
