another public restroom question
I usually try to avoid public toilets when i have to go "#2" but sometimes you just have to go. i have no problem using a urinal without removing my holster and gun. in the event that i have to use a toilet what would be the best thing to do... remove gun from holster and sit it on top tp holder or remove both holster and gun? sometimes your feet show thru bottom of the stall and i wouldnt want anyone to see my holster or mag holder, wouldnt want a cop to be waiting for me when i step out of the restroom.

Re: another public restroom question
I try to carefully place my pants on the ground covering up the holster or if the floor is not clean I try to hold my pants up so the gun cant be seen thru the bottom of the stall. If possible I try to get a end stall with the wall on my carry side. Most public restrooms dont have sutable shelves to place your weapon without it falling.
I love the sound smell of jet fuel in the morning.

Re: another public restroom question
Not trying to make for gross mental pics... but why do pants and gun have to be on the floor? Just for hygiene alone I don't want mine there. I have always pulled them down just enough to expose rear. Pants probably staying half way between knees and butt. Then, no reason to do anything with gun and holster as long as you have a positive retention holster.

Re: another public restroom question
The best solution I've found is to remove the gun from the holster and put it in the "sling" provided by your underwear and slacks at knee level. It's off view, safe, and, unlike putting it down on another surface, you're not likely to forget it and leave it in the stall.glock17 wrote:I usually try to avoid public toilets when i have to go "#2" but sometimes you just have to go. i have no problem using a urinal without removing my holster and gun. in the event that i have to use a toilet what would be the best thing to do... remove gun from holster and sit it on top tp holder or remove both holster and gun? sometimes your feet show thru bottom of the stall and i wouldnt want anyone to see my holster or mag holder, wouldnt want a cop to be waiting for me when i step out of the restroom.

Ah, country life.
Re: another public restroom question
seems to me like unholstering the gun and sitting it inside, on my underwear between my legs is the way to go. i usually carry an extra mag on my belt, maybe im just paranoind here but should i worry about that being seen? also should i wory about the holster being seen?

Glock 17,
Relatively new & we welcome you. This is a legit question from one new to carry.
I am reminding every one on the board, we have had to lock every one of these started in the past due to innuendo & just plain pushing our high standards of conduct. I have already edited one above for a "joke"
Keep it on topic. No jokes, no innuendo.

Re: another public restroom question
What was that old Billy Grammer song about, "...don't take your gun to town son, leave your gun at home son..." ? Well, I guess that message still applies; especially, if you may have to...er, uh...you know...
Sorry LT, this was posted as a public service not as an attempt at toilet humor. Lord knows, a bathroom joke is what got Jack Parr run off of TV back in the late 50's and we sure don't need none of that stuff here.

Re: another public restroom question
since I wear jeans, I have little problem keeping them up and out of sight from "under stall lookers". Jeans are stiff enough that they stay up around my knees without any problems.
However, if I am in dress pants, I will hang the pistol on the little coat hook that is usually provided on the stall door. If there's no hook, then I just do my best.
NOW, I have to say that the hook trick should not be tried with a Glock or any one of it's clones. I carry a Beretta and there's absolutely no way I'll get an AD by removing the pistol from the hook. Accidentally catching the trigger and having an AD with the Glock seems like it would be a real possibility. This is one of the main reasons I don't carry Glocks. (The other is that it has a weird grip angle that is just, well, weird.) Perhaps a Glock owner can chime in and tell me I'm all wet but hanging a loaded and charged pistol with the Glock style trigger on a hook seems like a recipe for disaster. However, with a true DA/SA semi auto pistol, this isn't a problem.
Also, my advice is to not worry about it. The law states that intentionally failing to conceal is what gets the ding. Being in a stall with the door closed should be enough to do whatever needs to be done and not be hassled.
I would be afraid to let it rest on the floor in my pants because of someone quickly grabbing and running off while I was in a position to do nothing about it.

Re: another public restroom question
I hang the gun, belt, holster and all off my neck so that it is not visible from under the stall. If it is a small pocket gun, I just move it from the pants pocket to the shirt pocket. I also always use the stall and never the urinal because it is impossible to urinate without showing off the smartcarry. The guy who sells it claims that it is possible to do so, but I have found it impossible to do so unless i wanna accidentally tinkle on the smartcarry or show off my pistol.

It can be done, though it takes some practice to consistently avoid pinching.drjoker wrote:I also always use the stall and never the urinal because it is impossible to urinate without showing off the smartcarry. As for showing, anybody looking there at that time is going to have some explaining to do if they go tattling about your failure to conceal. Reasonable expectation of privacy is pretty likely to be upheld in front of the urinal as it would be in a stall, so short of inviting someone to look or turning around before you zip, I doubt they could make intentional failure to conceal stick.

Re: another public restroom question
I saw a demostration of this one of the gun shows. Personal Defense, with Masaad Ayoub. I used his method even before he showed it. For OWB carry, The weight of the weapon tends to pull your belt out [abbreviated profanity deleted] the loops and sag. Especially if you are right handed. So, Leaving the pants waist at about your knees, after you sit you connect the belt back up at the longest hole for the belt. then you pressure your knees outward to hold the belt in tension, keeping the belt, holster and weapon high above the wall's open area below. Unholstering a weapon is one of the things that can lead to an AD. I have done it this way and works great. Not as easy maybe as normal conditions but certainly you won't accidently leave it if set behind you, hung on a hook etc. If IWB, I have found the same works but is actually a lot easier with my M-Tac because it does not pull outward on the belt. Check it out at home and practice before going out.

Re: another public restroom question
When I carried in a fanny pack, across the shoulder was a pretty convenient. The OWB Bullard I have, I just un-holster and keep it in lap. The Supertuck (still new so I am working things out) I just unclipped the whole rig. The Bullard is discreet enough that I doubt anybody will notice in the pile of clothes.

Re: another public restroom question
I am wondering if everyone is wearing a tactical/carry belt or not? I only have probs of belt coming off from weight of gun if I am wearing a regular belt. The stiffness of the carry belt holds my pants and gun up just fine.
