I'm finally back & brought someone with me
Sorry for being off the board for so long. I've had to deal with some personal and technology issues. But I'm back now and although, she is not on the board (yet), We have another member of the CHL community. She is obviously on DPS as this class was last Saturday but she's done all she can do until the plastic is delivered Here's the story below:
Shortly after we started dating, I was invited to my girlfriend’s house for a backyard, family BBQ. As the night went on, we started bantering back and forth and I said something smart to her. (Those who know me, know that’s not too far-fetched.) Anyway, we were pretty close together and she, in an attempt to smack me, hit the butt of my gun. I got that shocked look and she asked me what it was. When I told her, she asked why I would bring a gun to a backyard BBQ where she knew all that were there and in such a good neighborhood. I gave her my “sometimes bad people go to good places” reasoning. She thought for a moment and said ok. Later, she began asking questions and stated she wanted to go shooting as she had never shot anything more than a .22 rifle growing up. So the process began!!! I took her out to shoot the guns I had, then we started borrowing, renting guns for her to try and I registered her for a CHL class. She has a lot of natural talent but she also listened and applied what I told her. Longtooth also gave her some instruction as I arranged a meeting between the two of them when she went to his neck of the woods for a family visit.
Anyway, class day came and she took the written test and did the shoot. She only missed one question on the test and here is her target below. As you can see, it’s a 250. She shot my XDm .40 for the qual. As I started this, she called and is headed to her local range to go practice again. She’s hooked.

I would say VERY impressive test target. Great to have another CHL convert especially one that can shoot like that.

Not bad. That target is a physical reminder to never make her mad!

Hey man, glad too see you back and Congrats!
Very nice shooting! Then again, with you as a teacher I wouldnt expect anything else.
I'm in Kuwait on another deployment......... When I get back maybe we can arrange another shoot day. I haven't seen FuryTaurus on here in minute either.
Take Care,
Bryan

Re: I'm finally back & brought someone with me
I have already talked to her about joining this and a couple of other forums. She is interested so I'm sure she will be lurking around pretty soon.
And I told her I wouldn't be able to make her mad after I took her out the first time. Now she's just getting better!!!
Thanks to all for the positive comments
And Bryan, we'll definitely get together when you get back. Let me know.

Welcome back young man. I also hope she will join. She had a good foundation when she got here. Easy to take it from there & move her up a notch.

Thank you TLynn!!! On both counts! I looked for a "New Users Say Hi Here" thread but ended up just posting out on the general forum. So far soo good! Looking forward to chatting with you, and am glad to try to even up the gender disparity!!!TLynnHughes wrote:Welcome to the forum, Navy Tech!! I look forward to chatting with ya! Thank you LT! I went out monday to Ladies Night at Reds Range here in the area...went through 50 rounds. For some reason I was way off...I really need to get the Sig in to see if I can lighten the trigger...that 12.5 lbs. is a killer. I like the accuracy though when things go well...I just think my breathing was off. Normally I keep the shots tight with it, but just a little to the left which I am attributing to the hard trigger...and am hoping that with time and practice my finger will strengthen up a bit. I used MTICops Springfield for the CHL, and that one is sooooo much easier for me! I told him the first time I shot it that I loved the feel...and that has only been reinforced with more use. I love that piece! We will be at the range this weekend at some point so hopefully he can help me with the issues I am having with the P6.
I appreciate the hello and positive feedback!!
