Just have to share....
Mailed off the application packet this morning and just got back from Academy w/ a Taurus TCP .380...will be my carry pistol to start with. Seems to be made pretty well....$279 plus tax. A good start to the weekend

Congrats surfTX, and welcome aboard. Be sure to post a range report/review after you fire your new Taurus. I'm curious to know how that pistol stacks up in what has quickly become a very crowded market for pocket .380s

Re: Just have to share....
Sweet start to the week-end, enjoy the new piece. Taurus takes some bad press on the boards but their pretty well made and their customer servicAsaas very good and prompt with my one issue with my PT140 taken care of with replacement part sent out and in hand in just a couple of days. Blew 50 rounds through it and proclaimed it healthy and re-entered carry rotation.

Good luck. I'd recommend a 200 round break in and mix in some duty ammo that you plan to carry before it enters service.

Congrats on the new gun surfTX.
I held one for the first time recently and thought it seemed well made and pretty good looking as well.
You picked a good time to get it since .380 has become more available again.

Thanks guys...will definately post up the range report when i get a few through it, hopefully some time next week. I went to the local gun shop to grab some ammo for it and they had both the P3AT and the TCP 738 in stock - I hadn't seen them next to each other before. TCP seems just a smidge larger overall (which the specs would tell you but helps to see it i guess). The grip looks a little thicker both ways and the larger trigger guard are all that really jumps out...cant wait to put a few rounds through it!

Congrats surfTX! You wouldn't by any chance have gone to the LJ Academy and AJC for the ammo did ya? Assuming you might be in Surfside with your username. If you are, we're neighbors.surfTX wrote:Thanks guys...will definately post up the range report when i get a few through it, hopefully some time next week. Close.....ended up at the Academy in Galveston (after calling every one in the area) and T's Ammo in Texas City. Used to spend quite a bit of time down in Surfside though but work in Galveston now so hardly ever make it over that way. I did hear they were cleaning up the mess down by the jetty though...very good news!!

Pretty good turn around...mailed on the 6th, received on 9th, active on 27th
Still haven't got to the range w/ the carry piece though, hopefully this weekend. Did get a High-Noon IWB in the mail yesterday - cant wait to test it out!!

Greetings from a Taurus fan! You will enjoy your TCP, but a word of caution. DO NOT DRY FIRE. Taurus warns against it and if you have to return for repairs, they have been known to ask if you dry fired. Use snap caps. Also, try some Hogue Handall Jr grips on it....it will feel like a new gun!
