I had just got my CHL a couple weeks prior to the Fair last year and didn't know the rules. So I left the gun in the truck.

once in I asked a DPD officer what the policy was. He looked unhappy and explained that CHL was NOT allowed on Fair grounds.

The year prior I rode my motorcycle up and wore my black jacket and motorcycle boots in (no storage on the bike) and was hassled by the "security" personnel about the way I dressed. They were *SURE* they had found something huge when they ran the wand over my iPod

How can that be? Its city owned property so they can't post valid 30.06 signs. I think he may have been mistaken or letting his personal opinion influence his answer. I believe I have seen posts from others here stating they did carry on the Fair Grounds.

This is correct. Just remember you still can not go to the " Sporting Events." i.e ... football games etc.,once in the fair grounds. Those rules still apply.

They may post but the anchor tenants (Neiman Marcus) do NOT have30.06 signs on their doors. You can get into GVM legally with your guns by going through an outside tenant/store.

You CAN carry at the state fair. You DO have to declair and wait on a stupidvisor to come and take your information.

As you are giving this info, everyone around you can see what is transpiring. IMO this could be unlawful on the part of the city for requiring the information

On the other hand, as I was waiting for the stupidvisor, a large line had formed to get in. With only 2 people with wands, they started to allow massive amounts of people in without being wanded. Therefore, I am glad I carried my weapon.

The only reason that I went was to take the grandkids to their first state fair. They are the ones that insisted we go. Yes Pawpaw has a soft heart. But they are the biggest reason I carry 24/7

Last year it was a fairly simple process. Go to the gate, and right before the guy with the wand gets a funny look on his face, show him your CHL and tell him to STOP. He will know whats up and will get an official to come over, check you out and advise you to enjoy your day.

Inside its probably very safe. Outside....a whole nother story. It still baffles me why we have one of the largest events in North Texas in the WORST part of town....time to pack it up and move elsewhere if you ask me.

That was my experience last year also. No one took any info from me or wrote anything down. They just looked at my CHL, told me to have a nice day and we went on about our business.
