Re: Unsafe areas
Forgot to mention "Crack Alley" in Galveston.... Thats the area near the old Cemetery on Broadway at 40th street.
Also the area around 27th & Seawall (Menard Park) is a local thug hangout.
Best advice for G-town is if you are behind the Seawall(all of the East End) pack your piece.
Texas City/La Marque has some not so friendly places as well.

When you believe you are safe then that when the zombies show up...as my Scout Master said be prepared....as the SGT said we need more ammo and bigger rifles for that trip..LongHairedRedneck wrote:Forgot to mention "Crack Alley" in Galveston.... In Fort Worth:
- Stop Six
- Poly
- Hospital district
- Meadowbrook
In Denton:
- Concrete city
In Dallas:
- See city border
In Irving:
- South of 183
I'll warn you, this will turn into an emotionally charged issue as soon as somebody sees their zip code listed.

Re: Unsafe areas
I noticed a very interesting phenomenon while reading the paper after the '08 presidential elections - as far as houston is concerned, find a copy of the voter breakout by party (blue vs red). for the most part the dark blue areas are all crapola (I too do quite a bit of driving, though I have to intentionally visit these areas for work reasons). If I recall correctly, the areas that were red, I would be comfortable having relatives drive around on a friday night in the summer.killerfly128 wrote:I guess I should have specified "hot" areas ... not entire cities. I am trying to put together a list of areas that should be avoided as best as you can. If it can keep one person from having to deal with a cruddy area than it will have served it purpose. I understand that things happen in all types of areas and neighborhoods. I also know that there are some areas where it happens more often than others.
Also, any area with rows upon rows of apartment complexes tends to be an area with tons of property crime and violent crime. Most of the crime reported in the evening news/paper happens in or around apartments.
last thing - when the number of older vehicles with "rims," "dubs," tons of tint etc. stands out as being something other than occasional and a novelty - you're near a bad area.
One of the most entertaining and dangerous areas to drive in (just as far as risk of accident goes) is the area around beachnut/southwest by beltway 8 in houston- people literally drive like it's a third world country there - no regard for traffic rules/laws.

I have found that the activity a person is involved in has more influence on danger than the location a person is driving through. ![tiphat :tiphat:](./images/smilies/tiphat.gif)

Re: Unsafe areas
Car washes have been pointed out as being bad places to be.
Of course some of these robberies/murders @ car washes have happened in
the wee hours of the morning on or near MLK in Dallas (Fair Park area, where
the Texas State Fair is held).
Common sense would tell you that washing your car in the hood at 3 AM is not
the most sensical thing to do.
I'm just sayin....

Re: Unsafe areas
In Dallas? Do you like to know if the area is safe or not? Stop by your nearest bank. At the teller if you see 2" thick armored glass. You are in the not-so-safe area. Do your business and bail out, pronto!
Anywhere south 635 and 75, especially to the east is a bad place to be in unless you have to.
Anywhere south of Dallas Downtown is a bad place to be in. Just do not go there!

I work nights as a Field Supervisor for ATT and we cover all of Houston from Downtown to Channelview (East side) and I can tell you there is no area that is safe at night. Even River Oaks and Memorial have thugs, hookers and bums at night wandering around. I have techs call all the time to delay tickets until morning because of the people walking around.

That's truly scary. I hope you and your field techs get hazardous duty pay!rm9792 wrote:I work nights as a Field Supervisor for ATT and we cover all of Houston from Downtown to Channelview (East side) and I can tell you there is no area that is safe at night.
