That's the only one that would be even close to a match with the security license for "Platinum Security and Consulting." The other hits for security companies using the name "Platinum" are an alarm (only) company out of Utah, the California company (listed as a guard company, but their only Texas licensed employee is an alarm salesman) and a "Platinum Investigations" in Watauga that doesn't appear to exist anymore.03Lightningrocks wrote:A quick Google and I found this. Re: A disappointing State Fair episode 10-1-09
I was just wondering. Why couldn't we contact the City of Dallas about this or hold them to blame just as well. Because of the law forbidding the denial of access to CHL holders wouldn't it also be their responsibility to convey this to anyone leasing their property? And if they could not show proof that this was communicated couldn't they also be held liable if this were violated? I realize this might be a big stretch, but I wonder if the city could put a stop to this.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

I guess I got off easy. Please keep us updated
Well went to state fair today. I was stopped at gate with the wand. He was checking everywhere. No biggie I handed him my license and out came the notebook. At that moment I told him that he could write my CHL # down but there was no reason for him to write down my name and address and he agreed. I know the # wont help him find anymore info out about me so I was confortable with that.

Re: A disappointing State Fair episode 10-1-09
On another forum, a fellow posted that yesterday his friend attended the Fair. The wand person scanned him,
the beep alarm went off,....................and nothing happened. He walked in, no info check, no anything.
I have requested him to get a few more details from his friend and post them. He agreed too.
This leads me to a question for a moderator: can I copy and paste from the other site to this forum OR
can I post a link to another thread on another site without causing a problem here? I know links to youtube and
news media are posted here. I'm not really sure of the protocol. Thanks.

I had a random thought pop into my head last night - does anyone have any experiences using an out of state license for entry to the fair?

I worked in a building located in the heart of Fair Park for 8 years, I just recently quit this past April. Everyone on the Campus dreaded the coming of the State Fair each year. It's nowhere near as safe as some claim it is, much news is suppressed.

Re: A disappointing State Fair episode 10-1-09
The last sentence here is why i think they can ask and require you to show them your CHL. I agree that they cannot stop you from carrying, but it is incumbent on you to prove your authority to carry. Say that three people, all armed, walk up to the gate. The first is an off duty cop, the second is a CHL, and the third is a person who is unlawfully carrying. The first wants to get in and the wand beeps. He has to show his ID to prove he can legally carry. he does and is let in. The second is asked and claims to have a CHL. He is asked for ID, and produces his CHL and is let in. The third is asked for ID and claims to also have a CHL but refuses to produce it. Should he be let in?gemini wrote:GC 411.205 Displaying License; If a license holder is carrying a handgun on or about the license holder's person when a magistrate or a peace officer demands that the license holder display identification, the license holder shall display both the license holder's driver license or identification certificate issued by the department and the license holder's handgun license.
I've stated this before; it's just as important what is NOT in the law as what is...... The law does NOT require you to
display your DL or CHL to anyone other than a magistrate or peace officer on demand. To save time and band width
I'll refrain from expounding on this right now. I fully understand ID to cash a check at a private business etc.......
We're talking CHL here.
So, as I see it, since it is not forbidden, it is legal for a private person or a governmental official other than a peace officer to demand to see a CHL in order to allow you to carry where you are legally entitled to. this is just like requiring ID to cash a check. This does not necessarily give them the authority to copy any information but they can require you to prove you are entitled to the benefit the CHL gives you.
So, we need to get a law passed banning anyone from collecting the personal information in order to allow a CHL to carry on their premises. Now that I think about it, wasn't Houston (or Harris County) doing this also when they required you to sign in and get a red badge to visit city buildings?

Re: A disappointing State Fair episode 10-1-09
The OP was prepared to display his CHL to "a magistrate or a peace officer" to enter. He was even willing to display his CHL to the gate attendant and the private security staff. He objected to having his personal information recorded by the private security gate attendant.
"Ees gun! Ees not safe!"

Good points. This is exactly why there should be a LEO at every gate entrance. I entered the Fair last year by simply flashing the CHL to the gate wander (too fast for him to read anything) and I said "I have a CHL". He pointed to the DPD officer manning the same gate I was denied entry to this year. Last year, I handed my CHL to the officer, he looked at it, handed it back and said "fine". That was it. No big deal. No rude behavior. No embarassing "outing". No panic among the keepers of the gate. No Head of Security or Head of the Gate keepers reading me the riot act. And one of the things most important to me...... no logging or registration of personal information.
I'm not familiar with the City of Houston requiring a red badge. I don't live there. But I have a feeling if I did......well....... one
mountain at a time.

On a plane and will miss the Mark Davis show. Keep at it and good luck.
Re: A disappointing State Fair episode 10-1-09
A couple of quick notes to bring those interested up to date.
1. I never received a reply or call back from Rep Joe drivers office.
2. The DPS attorney has never called / per Rep Allan Vaught's office.
3. My attorney has never received a call back from State Fair management.
4. Some are now entering the Fair without the info hassle, still no continuity from gate to gate.
5. Mark Davis was reported to have a show this morning on this topic. I'm tuned in now.
The next few days could be interesting.

Maybe the rule was not "Official" policy. If it was, it seems like the hassle would be across the board at every gate for all CHL's.
