Has anyone here ever drawn there firearm in defense?

i just usually tell the girlscouts " put down the cookies and back away "

I pulled my firearm once so far , Was out with the family on the way home , when the alarm company calles me. They proceed to let me know that I have a trigger from the patio door. They ask if I would like to be sent ut to my home , I said no ( since I was just a couple blocks form the house ). We get home , pull in the driveway, stop at the very end . I get out tell me wife to stay in the car until I check the house.I open the garage door pull my firearm and enter the house. I clear the house everything is fine. Come to fine out the pins on the top and bottom of the patio door was not pushed in and it was rather windy that day. So the wind bearly pushed the door open off the contacts and made the alarm sound.

Years ago before CHL was even a remote possibility, we had a guy breaking into the the apartment above us. He sounded real confused, so I pulled out my 16 guage shotgun and called 911. The police came and got him. Turned out he was drunk and confused. He lived across the street. If he had been in the right building, he would have broken into his own apartment. But he was in the wrong building.

Years ago when I was collecting military shotguns, my next door neighbor and very good friend hosted a get together for our little neighborhood group of friends. 5 families on our street became very close friends. Children and all attended.

My family & I were the first to leave, about 10pm. An hour later my next door neighbor(Pat) and the guy who lived on the other side of him(Bob) knocked on the door with worried looks on their faces. They told me Bob heard a noise in the back bedroom when Bob came home for a few minutes, and could I get one of my guns and go with them. I told wife to call the police, I'm going over to Bob's house. At the time I was a big time U.S. military marked riot and trench gun collector. I grabbed my fav h.d. shotgun(Rem. M.11 riot) and we 3 went to Bob's house clearing one room after another. We had just cleared the last room closet when police arrived. There were 3 LEO's in the house and briefly interviewed us. As I was the only one who had a gun, I was escorted out of the house and asked to go home, which I promptly did. No intruder was found.

Never drawn mine on anyone and hope I never have to, but let me tell you a story
of someone who did.

I was getting a quote from an insurance adjuster who was examning the leaking church
roof.

We get to chatting and he tells me that many years ago, way before CHL's were an option,
that he was living in the Oak Cliff section of the City of Dallas. For those of you who are not
familiar with Oak Cliff, it's kind of a schizophrenic area. On one block will be the finest most
beautiful mansions you'd ever want to live in, with manicured large lawns.

Go a block or two over and it's full of crack houses and plenty of low lifes that are the reason we
have CHL's for protection.

Well, one night this guy is driving, minding his own business, when a full size Chevy pickup starts shadowing his
every move. He passes by his house so the bad guys won't know where he lives. The speeds increase.
The good guy thinks he's got a big enough lead so he won't be seen when he pulls his car quickly into
a curbside parking space. Hoping that the bad guys won't notice and will zoom down the road.

The bad guys still saw him and pulled up to his parked car so close that he was not able to open his driver's
door. Well, he had a cowboy style .22 caliber, 6 shot revolver on him. He pointed it at the passenger of
the truck who was only 2 panes of glass away from being shot.

The bad guys peeled out and that was the end of that adventure.

You said a mouthful there. When I thought about it, I was two very differnet people at the beginning and end of that decade.

Pretty fortunate to have made it through the first few years of the 80's unscathed.

When I was in college I carried a Taurus 9mm in my car. One night I was on a two lane, twisty country road when a pickup truck came up behind me and started tailgating me. I slowed down to let him pass, which he did, then he proceeded to slow down to 10 mph. When I tried to pass him, he'd speed up and refuse to let me pass, until I had to get back behind him due to a car coming in the opposite direction.

This went on for about 15 minutes when he started to try to run me off the road, and finally succeeded and had my car blocked with his truck. Three men then got out of the truck and started walking toward my car.

I pulled my 9mm, pointed it at them, and said "I think you want to get back in your truck and drive away." They saw the wisdom of my words, got back in their truck, and drove away.

I sat there for about 5 minutes waiting for the shakes to die down before I drove off.
