Third CHL Renewal

#1

Post by shooter1911 »

My understanding is when you renew your CHL for a third, and subsequent times, your CHL is good for 10 years. I just renewed for the third time and my renewal date is 2014. Anyone know why this happened? This rule is listed on page 14 in the 2007-2008 CHL Laws and Statutes Book under GC 411.185 RENEWAL.

Thanks

The license still expires after 5 years. But, you don't have to take the class again for 10 years.

So does that mean I just renew my license with applicaple fees, but I don't have to take the class or do the shooting test?

You still have to submit fingerprints and photos with your application.

OK guys I get it, I think. On my next expiration date I submit photos and fingerprings so they can do a background check, but I don't have to take the written or shooting test. Thanks for the info. I thought after the second renewal my license would say expires on my b day in 10 years.

One reason we don't want to see the license expiration go beyond five years is that doing so would void the CHL exemption from the NICS background check.
