You forget that in Heller the court said something along the lines that reasonable restrictions were allowed.

Heller left more maneuver room for the antis than it did to limit them.

There is an obvious practical issue with the police or anyone taking non-grandfathered, banned guns from owners. Similar to why police stations are seldom robbed.

I wish I was not completely broke right now. I'd buy an AR15, an AK47, a bunch of magazines, and a couple more high-cap pistols. Sux that the new AWB talk comes right at a terrible economic time. Something tells me that an unarmed populace may be far easier for the government to deal with while they are raising our taxes, nuking the economy, and redistributing wealth. That's a little conspiratorial but not completely without merit.

Definitely has merit, in fact, I echo that notion. Here we are VULNERABLE as can be with the economic issues we have, but to add insult to injury, we are irritating other nations left and right.

I'm not predicting some hostile takeover of America, but damnit, we need to defend our ground whatever the danger. We need to be armed and knowledgeable and ready! For the love of self-preservation!!

Drrr now I'm mad as heck. Like I said I'm 100% new to the gun world. I'm only 32 so a lot of past bans went right over my head. Now to hear my simple Glock with 15 rounds could have any issues is making me stomped on mad. If I wanted something with lower numbers of rounds I could have gotten something single stacked and gotten something thinner for a daily carry! But NO I went with what I thought was best and got something that carried more so I'd not have to carry around an extra mag. I'm a woman and don't have a ton of space to put cell phones, mags, and such all over me. Don't say purse as for one I don't carry one but two I don't think having a gun in a purse is the safest place to put one.

Dictators and rulers do not care about constitutions. Lots of constitutions are put in place only to be trampled on by those who swear to uphold them.

It's likely correct that what SlowDave said is correct... he can't see them taking away guns... the problem is he forgot the word YET at the end of that sentence.

You see, SlowDave, it's easier to erode rights than eliminate them. Take a look at our English speaking counterparts. They didn't eliminate "weapons" but they started with big guns, then went to small guns, and now it's illegal to own a sword or a cross bow. Erosion. So our socialist would-be dictators will start with banning assault weapons, high cap mags, and CHL. Then they move on to other semi automatic weapons in general. Then handguns at all. And so on. So we must fight EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY, and deny ANY kind of "reasonable concession" because they they just come back looking for more, because they think "reasonable" has moved to new and more restrictive ground.

I'll second the motion, and call you naive, and add short sighted with limited memory. Do you recall what happened in California? How about NY? In both cases ex post facto laws were passed outlawing already possessed firearms, including "turn in by" dates, and the threat, even if it wasn't followed through on, of searches based on records.

Those aren't ex post facto laws. If they passed a law this month saying it was illegal to own a handgun last month that would be an ex post facto law.
