OK....new to CHL and I have a question. I know that carrying at a polling place is prohibited which are usually at schools anyway. My question is that we usually have early voting locations at the entrances to our grocery stores here. Does that mean I can't carry into the grocery store while it is a temporary early voting place? Thanks in advance

Re: Early voting polling places
Polling places have defined limits, which are supposed to be marked by notices declaring that electioneering isn't allowed past a certain point.
I've never run into that, since our regular polling places are schools, and early voting is at the courthouse. Double victim disarmament zones.

Re: Early voting polling places
You cannot carry into a place where early voting is in progress. They should have signs posted to notify you that they are an early voting location.

Re: Early voting polling places
I am an election judge in my precinct...
The best course of action is to lock it up in your vehicle, vote, and proceed with the rest of your day...Regardless if the facility in general is on or off-limits per the law...
The only folks I am allowed to give a pass on are uniformed commissioned law enforcement officers (who are coming on, or going off-shift)...I have 7 in my precinct, and I know all of them personally...
The only person I did have a problem with, and told them they need to go back outside and secure their firearm was a Brazoria County Correctional Officer, he had an unholstered, 1911 tucked in the small of his back...
I know why he did it, and I told him (privately) that I agreed with his "statement", but he needed to correct himself...It has not been an issue since then...
Still makes me sick that I had to do that though...
