Man, this is getting worse. Now, a female armed robber! Everybody be extra careful if you need to go out at late night.

First, my friend was OK. He was said to be kind of upset about the knocking power of 380. So he went to the gun show on Sunday.SD4 wrote:Got six shots off from a .380 at a female robber, and she was still able to fire back and get away?!? "Got six shots off" is not the same as "hit the perp six times", let alone "hit the perp six times in one or more critical areas". It could mean, "missed five times and grazed her with one."SD4 wrote:Got six shots off from a .380 at a female robber, and she was still able to fire back and get away?!? I think most of us have seen the pics and stories of people who have shot themselves accidentally with .45ACPs and walked to the phone to call the ambulance. One that stands out in my mind had two through-and-through wounds to the leg from a single, quality SD JHP and posted pics of the bloody footprints where he walked out of the basement unassisted. I still subscribe to the theory that we never hear about these with 9mm or .40S&W because those folks just put a bandaid on it and keep quiet.SD4 wrote:Got six shots off from a .380 at a female robber, and she was still able to fire back and get away?!?
I had a co-worker do this one time. I was the lucky one that got to work all his overtimeKD5NRH wrote:I think most of us have seen the pics and stories of people who have shot themselves accidentally with .45ACPs and walked to the phone to call the ambulance.SD4 wrote:Got six shots off from a .380 at a female robber, and she was still able to fire back and get away?!?

Don't forget the post where the guy shot himself in the hand with his XD40.KD5NRH wrote:I think most of us have seen the pics and stories of people who have shot themselves accidentally with .45ACPs and walked to the phone to call the ambulance. For every caliber, there's somebody out there who has survived a hit with it. For every military caliber short of howitzer rounds, there's somebody who survived a hit at least long enough to fatally wound the shooter. OTOH, there are people like Archduke Ferdinand who are firmly convinced of the lethality of mouseguns.
The following pretty much proves your point....KD5NRH wrote:I think most of us have seen the pics and stories of people who have shot themselves accidentally with .45ACPs and walked to the phone to call the ambulance. ...SD4 wrote:Got six shots off from a .380 at a female robber, and she was still able to fire back and get away?!?

Most people are expecting to be able to see the results of a hit -- it's night, you're both moving, you're hyped, you only practice in the 'lane' with perfect stance/form, you never shoot a practical match, someone is SHOOTING AT YOU, you never even SEE your sights (all of the above but especially it's night and someone is shooting at you) much less a "sight picture"....from an article Gabe Suarez wrote: http://goldismoney.info/forums/showthread.php?t=240753
All calibers can fail, and have failed. When you look at the issues
scientifically a 9mm or a .38 Special is approximately .357. A 40 S&W is
10mm. And a 45 ACP is 11mm. So could it be that we have basically one or
two little millimeters separating “T-Rex Stopper from “Merely
Adequate, or “Anemically Inadequate? Yes that is exactly right.
Let me put it in a different perspective. A student of mine who works
for a narcotics Unit in the south recently reported in. He told me that
he and his guys had gotten in a gunfight with a violent drug dealer. Our
student shot the bad guy once with a shotgun loaded with Federal
Tactical Slugs. (Slugs incidentally are about .72 caliber and are
suggested as anti-bear insurance in Alaska ). The shotgun slug entered
the right side of the bad guy’s chest from about the 2:00 and exited
through the back at about the 8:00 .
Nice shot. However, the bad guy not only kept fighting, but stole a car
and evaded the pursuing police officers into a wooded area. A week
later, the bad guy’s attorney arranged for him to turn himself in. He
was alive and well, albeit injured. Does anyone want to tell me how
deadly their pistol round is now?
So select the size of your pistol first and foremost. Base it on what
you need to carry it 24-7-365. That means all the time. Select a caliber
that is easily obtained, and shootable for you. And finally, train to
hit and keep hitting until the threat has gone away (one way or the
other). A hit with a 9mm is far better than a marginal hit or a miss
with a caliber you cannot control.
I checked Google News and didn't find it with two or three obvious searches.Disturbed wrote:Wonder if she was ever caught?
Seems if you put 6 rounds of any caliber into somebody they wont go far, and will probly find a hospital or doctor ASAP.
This might support the theory she was just grazed with a shot.
