Please help the wounded store owner who fought off 3 robbers. He doesn't have medical insurance.

I will occasionally ride around the neighborhood with my boys, so I am not a serious rider. I once had an incident where a loose dog charged us as we rode past his home. I was armed, but didn't need it. I dismounted, kept the bike between me and the dog, and had my son head for home staying between him and the dog. My son was scared, but there was really very little danger.

Wow, what a long intro to what will really be a short simple answer. I don't really dress for riding. I often ride in jean shorts with a belt, so my usual mode of carry is sufficient, so long as my cover shirt cannot blow up/away from my body and expose my weapon. As it would not be intentional, such exposure would not, in my opinion, be illegal, but it would be unwanted. I have also pocket carried while riding. No chance of a quick presentation, but something is better than nothing. I have also been known to carry using a dreaded fanny pack. When I use this method, I don't use a "holster" fanny pack, but a regular off-the-shelf-from-Walmart pack. It has a section designed to hold a Walkman that my G23 fits into just fine. Take some headphones and tuck the cord into the port on the pack for it, and the illusion is complete. I also wear it on my right side (not fore or aft), so my CCW is at about 3:00 and can be presented rather quickly.

Okay, maybe it wasn't as short of an answer as I first thought it would be. ;-)
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Dont forget that if you're carrying, that you must also carry the CHL AND your driver's license.

I wonder if carrying on bicycle is included in the Castle Doctrine/Traveling Law????

Could anyone carry on a bicycle?

I have a wedge bag that's big enough for a small 38 special + some other accessories.

I guess the question could be asked 2 ways. Did you mean carrying while riding with the need of dropping the bike at a threat? Or do you simply mean carrying it along to wear it at a destination? I wear baggy bike shorts from Performance that have a very nice cargo pocket on the leg. It's velcroed all the way along the top to keep stuff from falling out, and most people will assume the lump is your wallet/keys/walkman, etc. Of course if you do that I'd recommend a pocket holster to keep from banging up your leg too much.

There is another thread on this from last year about this time but I couldn't find it quickly.

I usually wear MTB shorts even when road biking so that I can carry a P3AT in the cargo pocket, or I'll use my Camelbak on the MTB. Not the fastest option but better than nothing. I also have a small wedge bag undet the seat of my road bike for a tune, tire repair kit, cell, and a small carry pistol. The pocekt carry doesn't work for me when i am riding hard. I usually have a knife that's much faster access. I don't carry the P3AT chambered in the CB if I am doing serious mountain biking. I am always worried that it might come out of it's holster and if I crash who knows what might happen. Once again not the ideal option but it's probably more likely that I'll crash than need the pistol on the trail. :smilelol5:

When trail/mountain biking, I simply go to a holster with a thumb snap so in case I take a spill, it stays in place.

I wear a belt under my shirt above my shorts to hold an IWB holster in the small of my back. The belt also holds my keys on a clip and my cell phone. I keep all of these things separate from the bike so that I do not loose them if the bike gets stolen or I get separated from the bike in an incident.
