I found several as well...but none that matched HZ's account....or even close to the account.

Kalrog wrote:Just to remind everyone... I *DID* find several news stories about self defense in a pharmacy for things that happened on Wednesday. But I don't know if any of them were about HZ. And since nobody else has found anything about any of them, that really does say that there is a lot going on out there that we don't normally hear about.
Can you be a little more specific? Did any of them involve 4 deaths or for that matter - any deaths? With the understanding that they could very well be unrelated - where did they happen? Thanks for the consideration.

I didn't specifically notice that any of them mentioned exactly 4 dead, but I'll check again and let you know.

Searching again. I have stories in the following areas (since Wednesday only):

Miami (3 armed men - but shooting with police)
St. Petersburg (Mentions an older woman being shot)
New Port (No deaths)
Chattanooga (fatal shooting)

Note that I don't know if any of these are HZ's incident, but I doubt that anyone has seen any of these in the news so it wouldn't surprise me if there is another incident or 10 that we haven't heard about.

my interests and concerns (aside from the obvious concern for Hemi, someone who has been an upstanding member of this forum for some time now) would be where did this all occur?
Obviously it was in a state that had concealed handgun laws, but what other laws from that state are going to come into play?
although obviously justified, is the Pharmacist still open to civil ramifications?

I have to question the wisdom of anyone posting a summary of an event that would require not only pulling a sidearm but also firing so soon after the event happened when you know that the investigation is not completed.

This person has already posted so I don't think it out of bounds to ask: Would you submit a post?

well, you have to take into consideration a few mitigating factors.
The guy was by himself, really without anyone to talk to about it.
he certainly wanted to get it off his chest, but was probably unsure of a good way to do it. he probably figured, "Hey, the guys on the forum might want to hear about all this!"
I don't question his wisdom so much as his state of mind. probably a little more shocked than he wanted to admit.
I know I would have been.

as of 2am last night, no reputable news source (or even disreputable) has reported a pharmacy/robbery/4dead/armed robbery/CHL/etc... report... this is with checking AP, pathfire, and several other non-public news sources... as well as the eeenternet...

I'm sure this thread won't last long, but i'll gladly apologize if he was telling the truth... but to this point i've read 23 different "shooting fatality" news releases, but nothing meeting the criteria of employee and 3 BG's shot and killed, pharamcy robbed... as i can assume it wasn't in TX, that takes a few out of the list as well, as most TX related stories are dealing with Pasadena etc..

again, it might be that the mall shooting has completely eclipsed this, but even local news is covering local crime more closely following the incident as many people fear copycatting etc... I can't say he was lying, but the evidence is not in his favor..

I agree, we need the give the guy a break. I also dont understand why everyone is out to say he is a lier. That is between him and his Maker.

never called him a liar, simply chose to question his story as accepting everything you read on the internet as truth is what gets many people in trouble... i still can't imagine why he would lie, hope he wasn't, but i'm not new to the media world and i'm pretty sure this kind of story would be out by now.

This thread is heading south like it's predecessor. Mr. Cotton explicitly stated that he would have information for us. We are all curious, but I think we should refrain from speculation until we hear more details this evening. I can imagine a number of different ways this will go, none of which will likely be the truth. It is all speculation. Due to the truly serious nature of the topic, let's wait for more information.

I, for one, trust the moderators on this board, understand they had to limit conversation on the topic and believe that they will give us what they know when the time is right.
