the LA Fitness locations near me never posted any garbage like that; so feel free to check 'em out.

Of course the funny thing is that we all know the sign is bogus. I plan on speaking with management next time I am in.

Sure the sign is bogus, but if you talk to the management about it, they might just decide to put up a valid sign.

Was that notice there when you signed up? If not, I would demand a full refund and take it somewhere else. If so... well, how come you didn't see it 2 weeks ago?

FYI: the YMCA doesn't do any of that stuff around here either. Although you still have the logistical problems of carrying - those I have figured out how to deal with.

I wouldn't point out a non compliant sign, just ignore it

Ram requires them in all stores becasue of a clause in their liability insurance about "occupants" being armed. They are improper on purpose. This came from the President of Lifetime Fitness's mouth to my ears. That exact sign verbiage is on ALL locations before the doors open to the public. I was the 98th member when Plano opened. :-) We are now at Allen/McKinney.

Very interesting!!! Thank you for that info. I guess I never noticed the sign or we went into another door......I dunno. I am normally extremely aware of my surroundings so I was scratching my head as to how I missed it. Guess no talky to the mgmt then. Thanks.

Also, It IS a PINA to lock it up in the lockers. Everyone sees and noone cares, the problem is we have been having a rash of locker thefts lately.

Don't go there, they don't want you there with your gun then its not a safe place to be. And they have been having locker theft and car break-ins I would tell them give my money back and tell them why!

They have that exact sign on the ones in Houston too.

when you talk to them, tell them to reword it to say

"ALERT" no one here is armed, please feel free to not bring your firearms when you rob the place or you will be asked to leave.

You might also check your membership contract. In 24HR's contract it says that you can lose your membership without any refund if you carry a weapon on the premises. No signs are posted, so it is a legal carry but you might lose the money you have spent (if you get caught).

It's not a 30.06 sign, but it's a legal sign if the gym was in Minnesota. And surprise, surprise their corporate headquarters is in Minnesota.

That said, since this is obviously just the local manager following corporate policy, I doubt talking to them will do anything constructive, and if anything will result in them posting a 30.06 sign as Kalrog suggested.

I think their intentions are clear... and it's not a matter of a "legal" sign, it's a matter of respecting the publics right to protect ourselves... if they don't value my life enough to let me exercise my rights and privileges then they don't deserve my money.
