Suri wrote: Sun Jan 20, 2019 8:38 pm By the way, we watch CNN and MSNBC as well as Fox News - different slants on the news are interesting. Try it.
That's what's wrong with "news" today. The SLANT! There are very few straight news programs anymore. All networks are biased one way or the other, mainly and almost exclusively left. I don't want to hear the opinions. I don't need my news interpreted. I'm not a dummy. There's nothing I dislike more than a thirty-something political science major, with little to no real life experience render their "expert" opinion. Journalism in this country is on deaths door. Reporting just the facts no longer exists.
Sorry to belabor this but I think our reference points are different. When I say "news" I'm not referring to the commentators that promote their biased agendas - and we have a lot of those. But I do watch even the various pundits occasionally just to get a handle on what the extremes are saying - if they can speak intelligently and give meaningful arguments with legitimate data sources, I'm curious. And I even find humor in some of those. By the way I find BBC World News interesting sometimes and enjoy the PMQ Sessions. Maybe as an old retiree I have too much time on my hands and watch tv too much. :confused5

Stay cool... be curious.
I'm an old retiree too (about to turn 77). Are you saying you need to need to watch the pundits to know what they think. Here's what CNN and MSNBC think. Trump is a lying, White Supremist, biggoted, traitor who must be removed from office by any means necessary. Thats all they have to say 24/7. FOX, with the exception of Shepard Smith, usually gives Trump a pass, except when he is actually wrong. Shepard despises the man and is the only liberal anchor on Foxnews. Where do you get your unbiased news in this country? I say nowhere. Frankly, I find absolutely no humor in cable or network news. Making my blood pressure rise is not healthy. I do feel that at least Fox news presents both sides of commentary, whereas all the others on TV are one way only. MHO.

Know your enemy. Know their talkng points.
We will never win if we just ignore them and don't learn their weaknesses.

This is wise and true. If you really think about it, no matter where you are, no matter what you are doing, you are bombarded with "news" or opinions. It is not difficult to know what the enemy's talking points are.

:iagree:

I especially like Sean Hannity's vids showing one commentator after another using the exact same wording/word as the previous one. It's all "talking Points" fed to them by the DNC, and they use it non-stop.

EXCLUSIVE: This Former Border Federal Special Prosecutor’s Shocking Stories Will Make You Want To Build The Wall Yourself
Matt C. Pinsker (JD, LLM) - author, national security expert, criminal defense attorney, US Army Reserve officer, and homeland security professor at Virginia Commonwealth University - is in a unique position to provide valuable insight on how desperately the United States needs a physical barrier on its southern border. During his service as a federal special prosecutor (SAUSA) on the border prosecuting thousands of cases involving illegal immigration and cartel activity, Pinsker has witnessed far more than your average journalist clamoring for a border photo-op (looking at you, Jim Acosta), and was happy to answer a few questions for our readers.

As far as you are allowed, can you detail some specific cases that the public would be particularly struck by?

I can cite multiple cases and observations that would horrify the public. One involved a 17-year-old child bride who was 8 months pregnant being smuggled into the United States by her 35-year-old husband who had a criminal record in the U.S.

In another, two adults tried to fake their asylum claim by pretending to be married along with a 8-year-old they falsely claimed was their child.

I also had multiple cases where convicted child molesters were arrested illegally reentering the United States.

In a 6 month period, I prosecuted some of the same people three or four different times for illegally entering the United States.

I had multiple cases where the Mexican cartels abducted innocent Mexicans and, after beating and torturing them, forced them to illegally enter the United States, sometimes carrying drugs. One guy who initially refused and was stabbed lifted his shirt up in court to show the wound.

Many times defendants in court who were charged with illegal entry had scars on them which were the results of having been tortured. There were large groups of illegal aliens being held hostage in the US by cartels, being kept as prisoners in “safe houses” until their family could pay their “release fee.” When the families had difficulty, the aliens would be tortured.
Much more at the link.

Well, we aren't calling them "puppets" for nothing.

By the way, just in case anyone’s interested. My brother-in-law Shane is selling a few 20 Inch Truck Wheels. If anyone’s interested, feel free to PM me.

The partial government shutdown is hampering FBI investigations into terror suspects, drug traffickers and child sexual predators, according to a report by a group representing the federal law enforcement officers.
Boo hoo. More fake news.

The sobriquet "Famous But Incompetent" far predates President Trump.

We're talking about the FBI being impaired. Let's do an audit instead of just hampering it to see what might happen.

I was in the military during one of these shutdowns and didn't get paid, all about abortion at that time. You suck up and keep working. I don't feel very sorry about any federal employee not getting paid until this is over. They WILL get paid. Good time for them to sit down, write a letter to their congresspeople and tell them to work with Trump. Or they can wait forever to get paid. I personally don't care. Especially for people in the IRS. Have you ever dealt with an IRS employee?

Hmmm, might I suggest that they shift a few agents from their current focus on overthrowing the U.S. government? That should give them plenty of resources to cover everything else.

Personally I think they are all a bunch of self serving kindergartners... and I do mean all...Democrats, Republicans, and Trump. I would be ashamed to have any of them as my relatives. If your child behaved this way, would you be happy? I don't care who wants what - they are all to blame for not coming up with some kind of compromise. Our side blames Dems, their side blames Trump, and on it goes... while they cash their checks and laugh all the way to the bank. Yes, I realize Trump doesn't get a check.

No, I don't work for the government or a contractor.

I'm just tired of the idiots in Washington D.C., all of them.

They could actually try working for a living... you know like most of us do every day.

If you’re part of a two-income household or you’ve had a steady job for several years, then a three-month emergency fund is probably just fine. But if you’re a one-income family, you’re self-employed, or you earn straight commission, then a six-month emergency fund is probably a better idea for you since a job loss could make you unable to pay the bills.

Thanks for you service. I did some service too and got along ok without money sometimes (as a teenager I was not very frugal) but food and lodging were not a problem. So you can't compare your situation with all of the 800,000 that are going unpaid. We should all care; there might be some nice governmental employees...
Wow. The military is an essential service and we didn't get paid. Over abortion. These people not getting paid are non-essential. And they will eventually get paid. Yes some might be "nice" and I guess you have never dealt with the IRS (gestapo). Non-essential means what it says. I don't care that a tech IPO will be delayed or that garbage might not be picked up at the national parks for awhile. I do care that an illegal (Wilbur Ernesti Martinez-Guzman) just murdered 4 people in Nevada and that he shouldn't have been in our country. What more do I need to say. Just realize also that EVERY federal employee probably has a much better salary than you or yours and probably has a MUCH better health insurance plan (funded mostly by the taxpayers) than you or yours. They probably work a lot less than you or yours too.
