Covered the same as any other pistol in Texas if you have a LTC or you carry under MPA.

I've been considering an ar pistol myself that would fit into a backpack.

I carry an AR pistol frequently in congested public places. In fact I carried it today. I would recommend just like the pistol on your hip, to get a pack dedicated to carry an AR pistol or SBR and keep it in a pocket by itself. I tried a normal Jansport backpack but the pistol shifted too much. I feel much h better with velcro keeping it in place.

I have found laptop backpacks to be better suited to this purpose than just regular backpacks. They tend to have more padding around the sides and hold their shape better. Naturally a backpack designed specifically for the purpose would be ideal, though.

If you are going this route, you might want to just get a Kel-Tec Sub 2000. It fits easily in a laptop case (or backpack), and is a rifle, so not restricted by 30.06 signs.

Excuse me a moment Mr. Robber while I assemble my LEGO rifle.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

It takes about 2 seconds (at most) to extend a Sub 2000 once you have taken it out of the bag. Almost as fast as racking the slide of a pistol. I agree this is not optimal. But if you are worried about not having that amount of time, then why the heck is your gun in a backpack in the first place?ninjabread wrote:Excuse me a moment Mr. Robber while I assemble my LEGO rifle.

I believe most that carry an AR or AK or Sub2k or another longer gun in a backpack or computer bag is doing so to have a better chance in an active shooter situation. I still keep a pistol on my hip and in case of being in a scenario similar to Paris, I want something better than a pistol. The AR pistol would only come out under cover and if there is time. The pistol comes out first.ninjabread wrote:Excuse me a moment Mr. Robber while I assemble my LEGO rifle.

Re: Conceal Carry an AK Pistol?
No argument with an AR or AK pistol with a reasonable barrel length in a bag. They're ready to go and can shoot through the bag (like a J-frame in a coat pocket) at close range if needed. The Sub2k has to be unfolded before it can shoot. Granted that doesn't take very long but neither does slapping an AR upper and lower together "under cover and if there is time" and the difference in terminal ballistics is dramatic.jason812 wrote:I believe most that carry an AR or AK or Sub2k or another longer gun in a backpack or computer bag is doing so to have a better chance in an active shooter situation.
