So I was reading through the updated chl laws (doesn't everyone); I found the section below in the labor code. If i am reading it correctly it prevents carrying a weapon in a vehicle my employer owns that i drive for work. Is that correct?
LC §52.062. EXCEPTIONS.
(a) Section 52.061 does not:
(1) authorize a person who holds a license to carry a handgun under
Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, who otherwise lawfully
possesses a firearm, or who lawfully possesses ammunition to possess a
firearm or ammunition on any property where the possession of a firearm or
ammunition is prohibited by state or federal law; or
(2) apply to:
(A) a vehicle owned or leased by a public or private employer and used
by an employee in the course and scope of the employee’s employment,
unless the employee is required to transport or store a firearm in the official
discharge of the employee’s duties;

no it doesn't prevent you from having a weapon in your work vehicle. what it does do is tell you that there is no exemption forcing your employer to allow you to have a weapon in a vehicle owned or leased by your employer. your employers policy is what tells you if you can or cannot have a weapon in your work vehicle.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I'll have to find out that policy. I would presume I already know the answer since they posted 30.06 and 30.07 at the entrance recently.

I will follow the armies don't ask don't tell policy. If it's not in the handbook I wouldn't to ask! You're not wrong until you're told no.

Very true! That sounds like a better plan!

I drive a company vehicle and my employer is actually paying for all of my CHL costs.
