got a phone call from nics hotline?

#1

Post by thaidragon »

Hello everyone, I just have a simple question here. I went and got my finger prints done for my chl application 2 days ago. This morning I recieved a phone call from the nics hotline. I called that number back and spoke with a lady. She says she has no idea on who would call me. I was just wondering if a phone call from nics is normal after the fingerprinting. I always assumed that they would only contact you thru US Postal service. Any thoughts?

That's the first thing I was thinking. There's an NICS hotline?

The whole thing sounds a little strange that they would call and then not give you some other kind of reference/case number for follow up when you did return their call.

I'm with WildBill. I'd love to research that phone number. I've never heard of such a thing. Don't they do all correspondence by snail mail?

Every once in a while I get a call from an unknown number.
When I google the number it turns up as a telemarketer or some other scam.
First thing I do is block it from my phone.

I'm 99 & 44/100% sure that NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System) has nothing at all to do with real criminal background checks.

Just wondering, why would NICS contact an applicant? NICS is not responsible to the applicant but the state and all correspondence should go through the state.

On the other hand, maybe they needed you to give them your CC#, routing # and send a money order.

If it really was NICS then they called the wrong number. As an FFL I've had calls from them but they immediately ask for my FFL number and make reference to a check I ran for a firearm sale.
