I am a little surprised they leave the guns out in the cases. I would have thought they would either have better cases or put the guns up at night.

Top Gun got burgled a while back when a stolen truck was run through the wall. I heard they didn't get much, but still caused a lot of damage.

I haven't read all of the post so if this has been mentioned already. After reading the OP first thing that came to mind since the do classes there perhaps that's what the sign asking for unloaded guns, and slides locked back was for people coming in for the classes. I know the gun shop where I took my class we weren't allowed to bring guns into the classroom. We left them at the front counter with shop employee who also assisted the instructor during the shooting part of the class.

The sign applies to everyone coming into the store and was not put up for classes.
This practice is nothing new and shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who has visited gun stores.
I have seen similar signs in many other gun stores for the past 40+ years.

I would have thought the rifles would have cables thru the trigger guard & locked to the wall of some sort, which wouldn't be so grab & go easy. The pistols put away in safe. I'm betting Carter's Country takes better security measures of their guns instead of just sitting in cases & against the wall.
I'm also betting LE will get all 10 BG's.

Update - Prosecutors say a felon and another man caught with stolen guns didn't even bother to take the store tags off.

William Steen and Tony Watkins appeared in court, accused of being in possession of at least 13 guns stolen from Carter's Country.

Watkins is a convicted felon and police had him and Steen under surveillance after the robbery. They saw both men putting rifles into a truck and followed him.

They pulled him over and found three long rifles and ten handguns in the truck. Several of the weapons still had tags from Carter's Country.

Steen told police he bought the guns even though he knew they were stolen. He was released on bond.
