Taking the fam next week. I guess I leave the 9 in the car. Not driving all the way to Houston without protection. When are they going to get past this crap and let honest folks protect themselves? Geez

Part of my wants to try and carry, then politely object if the LEO doesn't let me in and I **almost** want the Class C ticket, so it could go to court.
It's a small part of me, but it's there!

Per the post title OC: why not just cover up and enjoy the outing ? That's what I would do.

They wand you on the way in if you're not on a committee.
In the past, you just showed your CHL to the LEO and he/she would let you in. Now, I'm sure they'll act like they always have at gun shows on public property and buy the idiotic line that it's illegal just because there's a sign (disregarding that it's unenforceable and now illegal).

I've submitted my complaint to the AG's office this morning - for whatever that'll be worth. If my previous experience is any indicator, I should be getting a follow-up email from an investigator later today or tomorrow and that will probably be the end of it.

I also filled out the form on TFC website https://www.texasfirearmscoalition.com/ ... -06-upload

I'm so unimpressed with our new AG, that it's hard to express.
Pathetic.

Anyone going to the BBQ cookoff today? Are you going to be carrying? Let us know what's happening.

Literally about to walk in. Not carrying as I may want some cerveza with my BBQ, but ready to take pics of signs and report back.

Pictures later but wow.
Big signs on ticket booths. 30.06 and 30.07.

Then, you walk through wands. The funny thing is, they're not wanting at a gate but just in a walkway.
I walked right by and waved them away when one lady came over to wand me. I'm not carrying but out of principle.

It would be easy to walk through for anyone who just keeps walking. It's the slow and those who almost volunteer to be wanted who get beeped.

I think everyone on this board should start calling -The Texas Attorney General's 30.06 Hotline at 1-844-584-3006 :hurry:

As Mr. Cotton has suggested, follow the procedure. Notify Harris County first. Here is Devon Anderson's email address: da@dao.hctx.net. She is the DA for Harris County. Send her an email similar to the following:
Dear Devon Anderson,

I’m sure you’re aware that the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has prohibited concealed and open carry by posting unenforceable 30.06 and 30.07 signs at this year’s event. I understand that the rodeo event itself, held in NRG Arena, is a professional sporting event where LTC is prohibited. However, the grounds of NRG Park, NRG Center, etc. are owned by Harris County and cannot be posted.

This email serves as my formal complaint of this violation. You hereby have 3 days to take action and remove the illegal signs on Harris County property. If I do not hear from your office within 3 days that this situation has been resolved, I will file a formal complaint with the Texas Attorney General.

Sincerely,

Your Name and Phone Number
Then in 3 days file a complaint online here: https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/apps/3006/

And for goodness sake, if you go to the rodeo, take pictures of the illegal signs and post them here as a resource for everyone else to use when filing their complaints.

Email sent.

ETA: Maybe there is a certain number of complaints needed before the AG actually does something. Or, it's just a law that was passed just to make some people happy, and really isn't enforceable. Think about it, the government is going to fine the government.
