Not at all. The DPS and code refer to a firearm carried by a licensed individual as a "Licensed Firearm." Further, it is called "Handgun licensing".

Show me where, in either the Texas Government Code or Penal Code, the term "licensed firearm" is stated. http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/

You can't, because it is never used. There is no such thing as a "licensed firearm" in the State of Texas other than NFA SBRs or automatic weapons.

I think a better idea might be a friendly written letter informing the owners, politely, that no signs of any sort keep potentially dangerous criminals from carrying handguns into their establishment, and that the people who would legally open carry handguns are from the same group of people who can legally carry concealed handguns, none of who are likely to cause any trouble.

Since it is called a "Handgun license", it is grammatically correct to refer to a "Licensed handgun." A licensed handgun would be a legal handgun carried by a person licensed to carry it.

No, as an MA in English (UC Irvine) "handgun license" has no grammatical reference or bearing to "licensed handgun." Really? Seriously? What planet are you from?

Again. The Texas State codes can be found here: http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Index.aspx

Show me one instance of the term "licensed firearm" or "licensed handgun."

Ya know what?

You can't.

I shop at Kroger too. I appreciate their not posting signs on OC or CC. I wish more business had their attitude on this. I do wonder, however, if their attitude would change concerning OC if they started getting complaints from customers about people shopping there openly displaying firearms? :???:

Time will tell.

For the record: I'm pro-OC

I'm not for: Whiners who can't accept that businesses have a right to say "NO" to OC.

Does the revealing wording on the T-shirt render your supposed concealed status no longer concealed?

If so, and I could be wrong, but if so and I was the owner of a business that didn't want OC, I'd make you leave or get an LEO to make you leave.

For the record: I'm pro-property rights

I'm not for: Whiners who can't accept that can OCers or CCers can choose to spend there money elsewhere if they wish.

I may have to compromise my principles or safety by law, but I don't have to do it unnecessarily.

Not a rant to you Tiger1279, but just a rant.

I wonder the same thing. How will things settle out over time? Only time will tell.

IMHO, in the long run, I think OC will help CC and the pro-2a cause in that people will become accustomed to seeing guns more and become somewhat desensitized. And when nothing bad happens, (crimes waves will not spontaneously occur because of OC) some on the fence might side, at least on a personal level, with the Pro-2a cause, some might be less resistant to it. And when things change on a personal level hiopefully you'll see that attitude more reflected on the business side.

Change isn't easy. But accepting the status quo on guns is a losing proposition, as they keep chipping away at our rights we need to keep fighting to expand what they've already taken away.

There are many things that are now socially acceptable that once wasn't even though there was nothing wrong with them to begin with.

As a gun owner and pro-2a guy, I'm just tired of sitting in the back of the bus in a manner of speaking (being vilified everywhere you go or its ok to trample 2a rights) if you know what I mean. And I'm proud to be a white guy walking down the street with a black gun.

I'm here, I'm a gun owner exercising my 2A rights, now get over it.

I accept it, I just go somewhere I agree with.

When I was a dating man and I asked a girl out and she said no I accepted it, but I didn't stop dating other girls.

HEB said no Kroger said yes, I'm going with Kroger.
