government officials all over the state are trying to subvert the will of the legislature as the enacted SB273. Zoos are posting 30.06 signs and calling themselves " schools". Gun shows are posting their events in civic buildings. This needs to stop and some examples made. Please taken action against this illegal activity.
This morning I got this reply:
Mr. B, my name is Captain Gregory Lucas, I am the Law Enforcement Liaison for the Office of the Texas Attorney General (OAG), your e-mail was forwarded to me for review. The OAG has taken steps to address these complaints, we have set up a complaint form on the OAG website at the bottom of the page at https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/ and we also have set up a complaint hotline at 844-584-3006 or 512-936-3006. There have been several official requests for OAG Opinions regarding the new laws, particularly the handgun laws, those Opinions have not yet been rendered. We are compiling all of the complaints that have come in, but are not going to take any action until those Opinions have been issued as they will affect the validity of many of the complaints. I assure you that all valid complaints will be addressed. If you would like to see the pending request list, the link to the OAG website is https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/op ... recent.php. The most notable request is RQ-0040-KP which specifically addresses government buildings. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Huh. This one part of his reply seemed...odd to me. First thought was that it was what you'd say if a bunch of complaints were about to be declared invalid. Affect vs. substantiate or validate. Affect validity just sounds like what you hear right before they tell you that it's not valid but thanks so much for bringing it to our attention. Anyone else get that same vibe off of it?

Huh, part 2. I didn't see any of the zoos on that list, and there were actually only a few gun related ones.

Yes but I thought for sure that there would be more. I am very surprised that for example, Houston zoo wasn't on there.

Evidently no attorney has asked for an opinion on the zoo's.
Who wants to bet the signs will remain once the AG gives his opinion that a multi use building is not a court.
Link isn't working for me. It's a shame some just don't want to follow the law and do what they want regardless. Seems like it makes them no different than the criminals that are being tried in the courthouse. Hopefully, they will incur a significant fine. Someone needs to go through the steps to put them on notice and then report them to the AG.

You are confusing official requests for an AG opinion with SB273 complaints. Only specific people can ask for an AG opinion and there hasn't been a request related to zoos.
I wish the AG would post a list of agencies, entities and facilities that have been the subject of complaints.
