Bass Pro Shop Concealed Carry Policy

#1

Post by allisji »

I'm sure that this topic has been discussed before here but I searched and didn't find it.

Just got my CHL. Went to Bass Pro Shop. They have signs at the door that state to check in your guns and bows at customer service before entering the store.

Do these signs apply to CHLs when carrying concealed?

I assumed that they were more for returns/warrantee items since there was so 30.06 sign or notice given.

Since you just got your CHL, your instructor should have told you the only signs that apply to you are 30.06 and the red 51% signs.

An admonishment that used to be common on this forum: Those other signs aren't meant for you so, STOP READING OTHER PEOPLE'S MAIL! ;-)

Those signs are for guns and bows being returned, worked on or shot in the shooting ranges. They do not apply to legally carried concealed handguns.

Thanks, this is what I assumed based on my CHL training.

I knew that I wouldn't be in any legal trouble by carrying inside the store, but I still got a little nervous, being my first venture into the public as a CHL.

I almost took my gun back to the car, but I decided that since it was concealed, nobody would know anyway. And if I get kicked out of a store that I visit one or two times a year, that's no big deal anyway (since the wife wasn't there).

I agree that it soon becomes quite calming to carry and somewhat disquieting when forced to disarm. OP did well. Welcome op and thanks for asking us for an opinion. That's what we are here for, to help one another.

And right there, at the bottom of page 1:

So from my understanding, they(BPS) are going to allow open carry come January?. I talked to an Academy employee who said they have yet to "come out" with their policy on open carry their stores (this was about two months ago). Does anyone here on the forum work at any Academy and know what their open carry policy is going to be? Thanks in advance. :bigear:

Bass Pro does allow concealed carry. Now, as an employee of Bass Pro, don't CC you're gun in to the gun counter and ask to fit holsters and just pull it from your carry holster. You'd be surprised how many people I've had do this to me. I like knowing that our customers are armed (since we as employees can't carry on the clock) but when you pull the gun out when I'm standing next to you, I'm not going to be so friendly.

There is your mistake. Didn't your instructor teach that your first outing with your pistol and permit ought to be at Walmart? :rules:
