But I don't think the Zoo is the entity that will have to pay the fine. It will be the City of Fort Worth.

No problem. For just a tad over $3.8 million a year in fines, the city of Fort Worth may resist SB273 and the state legislative intent.

I wonder if their three signs are a single offense, or a "per sign" compounding factor.

Hey NotRPB,

read about the ratios, the number of staff to children! that's where they should be hit, because there is no way they can meet that on an average weekend and the staff ratios go up when there are babies around.

The fines are per sign, per day.

Maybe I missed it but what are the "advantages" to the Zoo to claim it's a daycare? To my knowledge, daycares aren't statutorily off-limits for licensed carry so how does this impact the validity of a 30.06 sign?

They are not off-limits to CHL carry, however, the social-service agency that regulates them may have some rules regarding the presence of firearms in the facility. This could result in the problem where they cannot prohibit licensed carry (due to being on government property), yet could lose their daycare license (if they actually have one) if they DON'T prevent it. Ultimately, that seems to me to be a problem for THEM, not a problem for the CHL.

I'm making some assumptions here, as I am not familiar with daycare licensing laws. And of course am not a lawyer.

I'm cross posting this, but I received an email just a few minutes ago that my complaint has been forwarded for review.

I'd still like to know what the State thinks of a daycare keeping a live king cobra in a trophy case.
