Ladies, my much better half carries a commander size 1911 on a daily basis. She has no issues with carry in the fall, winter and early spring. She has expressed the desire to have a pocket pistol for summer carry. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

I like the bottom one, as it still has the hammer, so you can still cock it. I have the bottom, in titanium, and in .357. You can get it in .38spl, which would be much easier to shoot.

S&W makes a version, and (for the most part), so does Ruger. I'm partial to the snubs.

If you can find them. I've been looking around here for a snub nose in .357, and none of the dealers can get them.

Rorhbaugh makes smallest and easiest to conceal 9mm on the market.

sbb,

I need more information. You mention that she is interested in a pocket gun. How small is she thinking? Where is she thinking of carrying it and how?

Compvest, she is interested in front or back pocket carry. I would appreciate caliber recommendations as well as pistol recommendations. She is more interested in pistol and not revolver. At present she carries a Kimber Tactical Pro II. It will not be easy for her to conceal in the warmer months. My wife's wardrobe for the cooler time of the year consists of trousers, jackets or sweater jackets and starched blouses. She does not like IWB holsters and prefers to carry her .45 OWB. Thanks for your interest.

If it were me, two I'd choose from would be a Seecamp .32 and a Rorhbaugh 9mm. The seecamp is quirky about being picky about ammo, but there are several on the market that work in it now. The seecamp is definately more of a close quarters weapon, it's accuracy range isn't a lot more than 7 yards. The R9 is much more expensive, but it's the smallest and easiest to conceal 9mm out there. NEITHER are FUN to shoot. Small guns gain the price of the user needing to tolerate more recoil, they both truly pack a punch.

If she goes the pocket pistol route and when she's ready for a pocket holster, we have a good friend in that business mecopocketholsters.com -- look him up!

Pocket carry doesn't work for me (especially front pocket) because women's pants are usually cut tighter and pocket construction is smaller than men's pants; but Robert Meco made me a custom IWB that I use instead. Pocket sized guns are so small that the IWB is not uncomfortable AND there isn't any need to dress around the gun.

sbb,

I have and carry all the time a KelTec 32. I have shot this pistol quite a bit and not had any issues with it. It has always functioned for me. I have no trouble keeping a 2" group at 12 to 15 yards. I especially like the belt clip you can get for it. I have carried it clipped inside my pants waistband. It conceals very well. I also have a DiSantis pocket holster for it for pocket and purse carry. The reason I prefer the 32 over the 380 is comfort in shooting. I personally don't like 380s. You get a whole lot of recoil for very little additional stopping power. If the 32 is too small a caliber for her, look at the Kahr PM9 or the new Walther PPS both very nice slender guns.

I personally don't have any experince with either the LCP or Seecamp. I would suggest that she checks these two out as well as the reviews are very good.

If you are in the North Houston area or plan on being I would be happy to meet with your and your lady.

Thanks for the reply Compvest. My lady is leaning toward the LCP in .380. I have told her that the little pistol will have a quite snappy recoil. Today she was able to handle this pistol and liked the size and the way it fit her hands. We are on the SW side of town but will keep your invitation in mind. We look forward to meeting you in the future.
