Hi, y'all:
The daughter of my wife's best friend recently was given a handgun for protection. I recommended that she get basic handgun training and then get her Texas CHL ASAP. The young lady is late 20's, grew up in rural Indiana, has a college degree and has a good job in construction project management in San Antonio. She's never owned a firearm before.
I'd like to find her somebody who will give her a good background without being condescending. When she goes for her CHL, I am hoping to find a 'one-stop-shop' where they will do the photography, fingerprinting, notarizing and all that.
Any ideas?
Kurt

If she was in the Houston area, I'd have at least three good suggestions.
Don't know anyone in the San Antonio area, but wish you and her the best of luck in finding someone.

Don't know about a training instructor, and this person is not a female, but I'll give a plug to my CHL instructor, Josh Felker. He's a good guy, matter of fact, ex-military, but not too hard-core and not condescending at all but very patient. Had an older lady probably in her 70's in our class and he treated her well (along with everyone else). Very professional and helpful and definitely one-stop shopping. I went to the class, paid my fee, got fingerprinted, he helped with all the forms, and a month or two later, my plastic showed up. So far, I haven't learned anything that disagrees with anything he taught in the class. He also has an advanced weapons class, and that might be more of a weapons training class. Check him out at
lonestarhandgun. Can't imagine a better instructor for CHL. Teaches at 3 locations around S.A. + Killeen.

I've got a buddy who will be putting on a Ladies Only CHL class here in San Antonio in June or July. My wife and several of her friends (also from a General Contractor / Construction Firm) will be in the class. PM me if you'd like more info!!

+1 for Josh. I got mine through him at the Bass Pro Shop. All paperwork, photos, fingerprinting, is checked and double checked. Zero errors on mine and back in 69 days ( a very, VERY long 69 days, but still shorter than some.) He is interesting, not overwhelming, extremely helpful and my wife will go there if she ever decides not to take her safety to chance (she carries in the car, but not on person.)
Highly, HIGHLY recommend Josh and his crew.
