Im one of the few it seems on here that is in fact single.
I should have my plastic any day now as it stands i have waited almost 90 days.
I am trying to start dating and i need to know what some of you ladies think.
Should i be verry forth coming that i carry a gun? or never tell them at all??
manny of you gals on here im sure are no stranger to firarms and those of you that didnt grow up around them how did you feel about dating a guy that was packing all the time. did it scare you away??? I also try to push any female i care about tword getting a CHL for their own safety. what are your thoughts on a good way to go about that??
i once bought a gun for a girl i cared about and well lets just say she freaked out. we no longer speak unfortunatly

I belive that the shooting conversation should come up when you start talking about what you like to do in your spare time. As in "I like to go to the range and shoot a bit, find it very relaxing. Wanna come with some time?"
Keep it casual. You don't want to start right off with the Rambo attitude. That definitely scares most normal girls off. But, I also would not keep it a secret, and have her find out before you get an opportunity to tell her. Just take it one step at a time and don't make a big deal out of it.

I agree with llwatson. I would not announce that I carry. I would bring up firearms in the natural course of getting to know each other's likes and dislikes, much like politics. You could bring it up in several contexts; as hunting, as sport, and/or asself defense. If she has no issues with any of these areas then mention you have a CHL. She may ask if are carrying. At this point you should have a good idea how she will react.

thats a good plan what about if i should show the lady in question and she then freaks out
we all know that if i said im carring a gun she will likely say let me see it im trying to cover from all angle as there is no way to predict the outcome

don't show the gun unless all the lead-in conversation is favorable.
above all, don't surprise her with it. it might be even better to show her a gun (empty, of course) other than your carry gun, in the safety/privacy of your own apartment, first.
if/when you show her your carry gun, be very careful to clear it before you hand it to her (assuming she wants to handle it).
Disclaimer: I am not a woman, nor do I play one on TV. However, my wife was seriously afraid of loaded guns until the second time an undocumented worker tried to molest her. She actually got her CHL before I got mine, after that.

Don't tell her you are carrying until you know where she stands. Above do not show her your loaded carry gun. Tell her if she is interested you would be happy to take her out shooting but that your carry gun stays where it is unless it is needed. This shows responsiblility and not a desire to show off the fact that you are carrying.
I believe the same applies to women who are dating.

Alas Kansas did not have CHL when we lived there & were dating. But my husband's first date with me was when I invited him to the Bullet Hole pistol range!

Thinking back to 1990 I worked for a lady owned co. I was naive at the time, she invited me to her house, rode with her, left my truck elsewhere, she parked the car in the garage w/ door like no one home. had big dog. We laid down to sleep and believe me nothing was going to happen and you know what i mean according to her, laid there 2 min. Bang on the door and it was her married boyfriend, I had no idea and he was crazy, tried to break in house from all angles. She pulled out a 38.cal. snubnose from the door on the headboard of the bed and got up to lay on the couch with the big dog. I got up and hid in the closet with only a knife. With him still trying to break in, she said, whatever you do, don't come out. He didn't get in and left somehow. Spooky stuff for me, never expected that, but that woman knew what to do.I don't remember how we got to the office without further problems and left the co. Just be prepared without fail.
