#1

Post by CompVest »

Ladies, the Women's Class will be hosting an IDPA style match the first Saturday of May for women only as an extended class. It will have four scenarios that will be shot twice, giving us a total of 8 scenarios. The idea is to shoot them once and then get a "do over"!

The purpose of the match is to give women a chance to shoot an action pistol match with out all the pressure of a sanctioned match.

Just a reminder that April 5th is the last PSC's Women's Pistol before we host our first Ladies only IDPA style match the first Saturday in May. We will be doing drills that will work on skills needed for the match.

All women are welcome to shoot the match, new to IDPA and seasoned competitors.

Report on our first Ladies Only IDPA style match this last Saturday.

We had fifteen women came out to learn and compete in a friendly match designed to introduce women to competitive action pistol shooting.

Four scenarios were designed for the match with an opportunity for “do overs put in play by running the scenarios twice. This made for an eight scenario match. All shooters were run through the scenarios once and then again with IDPA scoring being kept. Running the scenarios twice gave the women the opportunity to improve their first round scores by shooting better, faster, and/or running the scenario differently. This is something a competitor doesn’t have the opportunity to do at a sanctioned IDPA match.

We ran the match just like any other IDPA match with just a few changes to accommodate our women shooters and the equipment they have. We didn’t give any penalties, require concealment garments, or care what caliber of gun the shooter used. Several of our women don’t even own a gun yet. PSC provides loaner Ruger 22s and ammunition for their use. Five of our women used PSC Rugers. Two of these shooters, a mother and daughter team, had not been to the class before. The mother had taken one shooting class prior to coming to the match and the daughter had never even held a gun before! The daughter told her mother halfway through the match they needed to get their own guns. The daughter won the most improved shooter award by significantly improving her score the second time through each scenario.

Shooters were given three scores: first round, second round, and combined rounds. Certificates were awarded to the top shooter for each of the three scores. A special certificate was awarded to the most improved shooter determined by the difference between the first round and second round scores.

All of the women had a great time and the general consensus was “Lets do it again! And we will. Another match is planned for our November class. We will add moving targets in this match and give out procedurals and non-threat penalties.

Well it is that time of year again, the Women's Class at PSC will be hosting an IDPA style match the first Saturday of May for women only as an extended class. It will have three scenarios that will be shot twice, giving us a total of 6 scenarios. The idea is to shoot them once and then get a "do over"! Two of the scenarios will be short - one will be a standard stage and the other will be a close in table stage. The third scenario will be a long stage with a moving target.

The purpose of the match is to give women a chance to shoot an action pistol match with out all the pressure of a sanctioned match.

I hope to see you all there.
