For my wife's ##th birthday, I bought her a new Kimber Ultra Carry II .45. It's an awesome little gun. It's a little small for my hand, but fits her like it was custom made. We went to the range immediately after picking it up and, unless I miss my guess, I'm pretty sure that shooting it got momma a little bit excited!

I once bought my wife a newly trained adult lab for anniversary. For the life of me, to this day, I can't figure out why she was not as happy as I had hoped. Go figure.

When my wife shot my Kimber the 1st time about 8 yrs ago, she said the only reason I could keep it was it was too heave to purse carry.
She still shoots it some.

This girl likes her friend, Kimber UCII. I use it for the IDPA BUG gun matches. It never lets me down. And it doesn't weigh too much for purse carry.

Excited? Thats one word for it....lol...Kimbers do that to a girl....trust me. When we went gun shopping for me I wanted a Kimber too. Of course I got it and have gotten two others since, not Kimbers but I like them too.

Craig once got me a used lime green trash compactor for our anniversary. He was so proud of it, I....well....I guess I wasn't as excited.

My wife is permanently 29 and I defy anyone to say differently! And yes, apparently Kimbers ARE a girl's best friend... well, that and these other things that I can't mention in this venue. You'll figure out what the buzz is about, though! ;)

one of the first things my wife askes me when i get home from work is "how was work? anything interesting happen?" she gets to hear what goes on before the media gets ahold of it. i had been trying to tell her that i want her to get one but she would always tell me no. "there is no reason for it." well tonight we had a carjacking and agg. robbery. so she tells me....."i think it is time that you get me a gun." my jaw dropped! i was looking at a kimber ultra covert ll the other day and she liked it. .........looks like i am going kimber shopping! wish me luck!

The Kimber is definitely the jewel of her collection, but she's been carrying and very happy with her S&W M&P 9mm compact (also available in .40 cal). It's a great little gun, modeled after the Glock, but shaped and sized for smaller hands. It also comes with 3 backstraps to adjust the grip size. My wife has very small hands and the M&P compact has served her very well and it's much cheaper than a Kimber.

I think if I had started her with a .45 it might have intimidated her and turned her off to shooting. As it happened, the 9mm was a perfect first carry weapon and now she's ready to move up.

I agree that the M&P's are great guns and I sure enjoy mine. I don't think I would say they were modeled after the Glocks other than to say they have a polymer frame. It feels nothing like a Glock and with the different grips it accommodates all hands sizes.

If you open it up, except for the take-down lever, the mechanics are very similar to the Glock. The frame and the styling are different, obviously. It's kind of a kinder, gentler Glock that's a little more difficult to take apart for cleaning. ;)

My husband used to have a Kimber .45...until the first time I shot it. Now I have a Kimber .45...very comfortable to shoot--when I have the time (seems like forever since I've been to the range--gotta fix that!!)
