Call me a sissy, but I like pink guns. I'm a totally hetero, happily married man. I think it's something about being a child of the 80's. About the only reason I don't, and won't own one is that I don't want the odd looks I would be sure to get at the range. One of these days I'm going to get one of my pistols coated in an electric blue, though.

I tend to pretty much ignore what people are shooting, and focus on how they're shooting. I'd show more respect for someone with a tight group shooting one of those pimped out Taurus pistols with the gold accents and pearl grips than someone with a really sweet custom 1911 that can't keep it on the paper at 7 yards. I've seen both.

I thought the custom 1911's came with a 'X' finder mechanism to guaranty 'X' ring hits!

Brownells and Midway USA can't keep them in stock they are on permanent backorder. This has led to both companies removing them from their websites.

My wife has made it abundantly clear that she does not want a color of pistol that is not black or natural stainless. She prefers black slide, black frame, black grips. Hey, if she's happy with it, then I'm happy with it (except the fact that she stole my P239 :grumble )

Oh, the looks I get when I ask her if she wants the digi-camo pink revolver that they have at cabelas :mrgreen:

Black goes with everything.

Besides, no one will see your carry piece except at the range and a few other rare occasions. If you have to use it, no one will be taking time to admire the grips or Duracoat or whatever.

This is my story on the pink gun issue. I've been around guns most my life, although not comfortable with them. After shooting at a Project Appleseed, I fell in love with the sport of rifle marksmanship and had to have my own gun and the stuff that goes with it. Because of this, I began to be interested in handguns and saw a pink Taurus 380 that I was interested in. Of all the black steel guns under the counter, this was the one that caught my eye, and because of that, I enjoyed shooting with it just for fun and decided I'd like to have a CHL. If it wasn't for that first pink gun my husband bought me, I probably wouldn't be a new CHL carrier. Color of handbags, cars, eyeshadows, shoes, clothing are all important to me, so why shouldn't my gun color be? BTW, I traded my first pink gun for a smaller Bersa Thunder cc with pearlized red grips. My husband and kids say NO ONE in their right minds would want to be shot with a pink gun and would leave me alone rather than be shot with it. "rlol"

With all this talk of pink guns on this thread I just wanted to show my pink gun with pink bullets to match.

Charles L. Cotton wrote:What's with the recent craze for pink guns? There are three women at my office that said they'll get their CHL, if they can have a pink pistol! At first I though they were kidding, but they are serious. One said another color may be okay, but . . .

I saw a blue anodized pistol several months ago, but I can't recall where. Does anyone have some links to guns anodized in different colors?

This is just crazy! :banghead:

Charles,

Pink has a calming effect. Girls love that color for its effect. Here is a quote: http://psychology.about.com/od/sensatio ... r_pink.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just bought my wife her first pistol, a Walther PK380 with... you guessed it... a pink frame. Pink was a major selling point and I had to search high and low to find it. According to her, "Black is boring."

There are all sorts of opinions on this. I don't know about the deterrent value of a pink gun and whether a BG would be "less scared" of it than a black one. But my view is that if it will get her more interested in practice/training that might save her life someday, I'm all for it.

Of course, now I'm wondering if I can shoot it at the range myself without surrendering my "man card".
